Cool Hurst Short Shifter

I just took delivery of my 2010 Camaro with the V8 which I had ordered back in the first of July, 2009. I ordered it with the Hurst Short Shifter but upon delivery, I was advised it was on constraint and that GM supposedly and over 500 transmissions already blown due to this. I kinda think that GM's reason for this is not quite true since it is only the shifter handle and not the transmission. I also had a block heater ordered and remote start but neither of those where on the car either. Its a great car but when you special order you would think they would advise you before the car is delivered.

As of right now you CAN NOT order a hurst option. You CAN get it aftermarket like a lot (including me) have. The shifter will not cause a blown tranny... being an idiot will. All the STS does is take out the rubber/plastic bushings/bearings (making it more effortsome and add some rattle) and reduce the amount of throw (due to the difference in length between the folcrum and where it attaches to the shift linkage).

IF you bang the gears hard, which you can do with the stock shifter, I mean REALLY HARD, you can break shit, but just dont drive like an a-hole and you will be fine. If your point of this vehicle is to track the car... well hell you know your going to break stuff so thats the price you pay to play.

Slap the aftermarket hurst or whatever in and have a good time. Who cares if its not on the sticker.

I love my hurst! Yeah its a little noisy sometimes and my get on your nerves, but so is my wife and i love her!

Ok you know this thread is from April right? Hurst shifter is not available as an option, it may be sometime next year. As of now you can buy one an install yourself.

Plain and simple-> YOUR DEALER IS AN IDIOT. I have to assume someone there gave you that line of crap about 500 trannys self-destructing because of a Hurst shifter.

If you ordered a block heater and it isn't there it's because your DEALER didn't order it. Oh by the way, there is NO OPTION for a remote start with a manual transmission. Tell your dealer to do their homework. You're lucky they didn't order you a Malibu.

I have the Hurst shifter and it's great; transformed the whole driving experience. Mine was a little noisy too although it's only bad if you rest your hand on the shifter or are pushing on it. However I just did something a few days ago which made a surprising difference. I changed the trans fluid to Royal Purple Synchromax. It never occurred to me it would have any effect on the shifter but it did. The trans is much quieter now, runs a lot smoother, and the shifter is much quieter as a result! Get yourself 4 quarts of Synchromax and enjoy a quieter, smoother, better shifting trans!

my old school Hurst Comp+ rattles too (I know completely different type of shifter) but just thought I'd mention it. Heck, when I get my car I'll feel right at home with the rattle

Is it a simple drain and fill or is a flush required?
