Just wondering your guys thoughts on Larger TB and SC Porting.

As you guys know I will be adding an LSA SC to my LS3, Just curious if a larger TB is worth it and if so what brand and size? Stock SC or Ported SC benefits.


Benefits of porting SC and who?


Just running different ideas though my head.

Joe, I don't know much about porting the SC, but I do know that a bigger TB would get you a nice gain. I had a brand new in the box Nick Williams 102 TB that I was going to use, but never did. I sold it to Larry G on this forum, I believe was his name, and I think he said he got over 40 more rwhp from it with a new tune. I think he has a Whipple or a Maggie on his Camaro.

Wondering if the gains would be there on a non ported SC, I don't mind getting bone as long as it's worth it, sending SC off to be ported is also on my mind but not sure yet.

Hey Joe. i would cam the car before doing anything with the supercharger. It would reduce the boost pressure, it's a good thing. Your ported 90 mm throttle body is good for what you want to do in your HP goals. If you do want to blow up your power goals, the only throttle body i would use is NW or Katech. as for as porters you have Kong, jokers, katech, dc porting. I can't recommend any of them because I went with weaponx and their customer service has fallen off.

Yeah I am pretty sure I am going to Cam it, I wasn't planning on it at first but as I plan things change. Porting has crossed my mind since I already have the SC off and Will need it tuned any way. I don't want to get carried away either.

Port it now while it's off.
I want to send mine to Kong and get the x port but the hassle of taking it off, shipping it out and re-installing it has me waiting until the right moment when I'll have the time and energy.

(But also, yeah cam it and do all the other supporting mods.)

Yes If I cam it I'll do all of the supporting mods as well, I don't want to over do It either as the bottom end is stock.

dedicated motorsports has a kong xport exchange option. As long as your supercharger is in good shape.

I have spent hrs searching, But why not ask the question and get other peoples experience? Why not keep conversations going on this forum and generate some traffic and maybe up to date info? I also trust and respect certain Members of this forum and would like to hear their opinion.
And I also just learned that dedicated motorsports has an exchange program which I would not have known with out asking the question. I'll look into this if I decide to go the ported route.

Im with the thought process of its off, port it. Kong is the most commonly used for SC porting. Might as well do everything once and be done with it rather than piecing together doing this then that.

That is my thought as well, Just waiting on some quotes as I want to try to stay within a reasonable budget. I am also not sure if porting is safe on stock bottom end as I do want the car to be reliable and honestly don't feel like going that far and rebuilding a 14,000 mile motor.

Man I read the info out there, I enjoy talking with most people on this forum , if people don't ask questions and bring traffic to this site it'll be gone along with all of the information. And there are new people and new ideas now and updated info from 2014/15 when a lot of posts were. It has nothing to do with pride, I guess we should all just donate to keep these sights open instead of bring traffic. As almost any question someone has has been asked at some point and somewhere, even to the posts you have started.
I am not looking to go back and forth I appreciate any valuable info you may have but feel free to ignore my posts if they bother you, I mean at 61 years old I am sure you have other things to do.
