G2 High Temp Caliper Paint

Has anyone used this paint on their Camaro brake calipers? The current conditions of my black painted Brembos are deteriorating along with the Chevrolet Brembo decals... I ordered a different color for my car along with new decals and will post before/after pics once done. How was the process for those who have used this paint?

I used VHT high temp engine enamel primer. VHT high temp caliper paint. And then VHT high temp clear.

I'm sure the process will be the same for you. Just take your time and sand well with a scotch brite pad and take your time to tape well.
Go slow with your coats but do a lot of coats.
Then put the decals on and heavy clear over them.

I will be following the link above when I do the ZL1 calipers for the 1LE and some bigger brembos for my other daily driver. I purchased the same VHT caliper paint. Curious to hear your experience though!

Looks good! I see that brand in the auto stores. I just did not want to remove my calipers etc... to spray. I will be cleaning them up and painting on with a brush as provided in the kit. From the reviews.. I have read people saying the brush strokes are not really visible if any. Will find out for sure! Will definitely apply a clear coat on top of the decals.

I used it on my old 83 z28 when i put a big brake kit on the car. Painted on the car with the brush, it smoothed out nicely. On my zl1 i just powder coated them, but you have to be careful bleeding the brakes cause it’s eats the powder.

When I first ever painted my calipers, I used the G2 paint kit, and painted them on the car. As mentioned, sand them pretty good, wipe them down after really good with a towel and alcohol to get all the dust off of them. then tape them up, and all around them pretty good, then get to painting. One thing about the brush in the kit, it was a crappy brush, so I went to Wally world and bought a good soft brush that the hairs wouldn't pull, or fall out, I found out about this on this forum back when I did it. Take your time, but in the same sense you have to kind of be quick because the paint kit has a hardener in it and can only stay liquid for a bit, then it hardens, and gets tough to use. If you don't get them done in the time suggested in the instructions, and it get too hard, you will have to buy a second kit to finish. After you get it done, install your decals, then a couple of nice smooth coats of clear. Then it suggests that the calipers "cure" for at least 24 hours after finishing, to harden. Mine turned out nice, but after a while they started chipping, so I had them powder coated, still look great after 10 years.. Good luck!!

Is the hardener really required? I bought the basic brush on type paint from the auto stores before to use on my other vehicles and never had to use hardener. They lasted a long time. The current black I have on now were powder coated long before I purchased the car by the previous owner and it has already started to peel off and show signs of wear probably about 2 -3 years ago. I don't drive the Camaro as much as I used to since I have a new daily driver and would guess the G2 paint will hold on longer than it should?

I know this isnt what you asked but I highly recommend reaching out to Unit F14 Powder Coating in Plano TX. They absolutely killed it on my calipers. I have photos in my build thread. Top notch customer service too.

Nice got any pics?? Perhaps I would consider powder coating my calipers in the future once I get my other priorities out of the way. Curious what did they charge you?

Yes, if I remember correctly the kit is a two part kit because it is an epoxy paint, you mix the hardener with the paint, and have so much time to use it, or it gets too hard to smooth properly. I remember this because I took too long when I did mine and had to buy a second kit to finish. And like camarodreams says, I would look into powder coating them instead. Mine were done by Madison Coatings about 9-10 years ago, and they still look fantastic! Here's a pic of mine.

First black "ZL1" fronts are stock/OEM ZL1 front brakes. The red ones are a preapproval shipping photo. I sent Drew (unitf14) a photo of what I wanted and he nailed it. The last photo is the OEM 1LE look ZL1 calipers vs the OEM 4 piston.

I don't remember how much they cost but they weren't cheap. I did tell Drew to rebuild the caliper with Z06 vented pistons. I guess i was the first person to request this but with a little assistance and researched we were able to find the right stuff. I want to say with the stripping and cleaning of the caliper, powdercoating and rebuild with Z06 pistons they were 250/300 each. Maybe more maybe less. Don't remember. But its over a year and theyre still super clean. Even sent additional graphic stickers.

the zl1 calipers and sticker are discontinued now. i had to replace the front passenger caliper to find out they are discontinued. With some research i found that the c7 corvette base brake calipers are the same.
