If you want a stock like feeling clutch for that power level then a Monster triple is going to be your move. You'll spend some more money, but you'll have something that feels just like stock and puts up with that sort of power. I have had my RXT in the car for 20k, and it's been trouble free. It works just fine. It does need to be driven intentionally - but that's my whole car, and it's part of the fun to me.

I got a lot of miles out of my stock clutch. But I could never launch it hard, always had to roll into it so it wouldn't stick or burn. But plenty of half mile racing on the stock clutch, just had to launch very soft.
I have a monster s triple disc in it now. Feels like a stock clutch pedal but bites like no other. So it depends on what kind of driving you'll want to do. If you're upgrading your clutch, you might as well give yourself a high ceiling. That's what I did at least.

Do I need to replace my Slave cylinder? The Monster triple isn't cheap that is for sure, I want to do it right but adding the cam and the SC is already adding up.
I always ran Centerforce clutches in my older Camaros and was very happy with them, they don't seem to be popular in the newer generations.

Yes, upgrade slave cylinder. With the new clutch I did new flywheel, slave cylinder with billet support bearing, remote bleeder and pilot bearing.

Monster and McLeod are tired and true, proven units. I replaced the slave with the RXT. Realistically I wanted to do the 1200 but I was told its too much for my application.

It sounds like the monster triple fits the bill for me, What slave is a good match? Do they come with a Flywheel or can I run my stock one or is that not recommended? I was thinking of trying to run my stock one for a season then adding a clutch as I am just not 100 % sure if I should do it the same time as the rest as I have a home, 2 Boy's ( just put a cam and converted my youngest sons 4th Gen Ram 2500 to a 2nd Gen turbo set up, and powered coated everything motor and suspension Diesels are not cheap but they do make power. We also have a complete 6 Speed swap sitting in my shop waiting to go in he works hard and I am proud of him). Oh and I have these things called horses that will only eat the finest hay and the cleanest barn lol so i have my hands full here at least I have the land/farm/Barns and equipment right on my property so I don't board out and that keeps my Lady happy.

If you have the money and time do everything now. If you need to recoup some money or dont have the time run the car, enjoy it and get the clutch later.

The Monster S Series Twin should fit the bill, especially since you mention not launching from a dig. It will save you a pretty penny vs the Triple, and is probably plenty for the power you'll be making. This is the clutch I recently installed in my SS 1LE and I'm very happy with it. I'm running a maxed out TVS2300 supercharger and BTR PDS stage 2 torque cam, on E85 making ~700whp.
I do road course stuff, not drag racing. I run the car hard, but I'm not beating on the clutch. The stock clutch looked good when I pulled it. |

I looked at the twin and I believe it said it was good to like 800 HP so I was thinking the same thing, I see they list two different versions , both same HP one lists slight chatter and other lists none.

Currently, my car is sitting at 89,900 miles. I bought my car right off the showroom floor with 369 miles on the odometer. At 12K miles, I installed a Whipple, headers, an LS9 cam, and methanol. It made 630whp/565wtq, and I daily drove it like this for several years. It never saw a clutch dump, but it saw lots of pedal-to-the-metal action when the clutch was fully engaged. It saw a 1/4-mile strip a few times, again without a clutch dump (terrible 60' times). About 40K miles, it went through another cam swap, head porting, fuel system upgrades, switching to E85, 10% OD damper and a blower pulley size decrease (~10-11psi). Those changes resulted in 806whp/680wtq....all on the stock clutch. The stock clutch finally tapped out when I dropped blower pulley size again (~16psi). It slipped at full throttle in 3rd or 4th gear, I can't remeber now. However, if I drove it normal, it drove just fine without slipping. I have since replaced it with an organic triple disc from X-Clutch. I haven't re-dynoed with the newer blower pulley in place, but I'm guessing north of 900whp....

I am sure the stock clutch was never meant for these power levels but probably will hold up fine to sensible driving at higher power levels. The Monster triple probably is overkill for my goals, but I may go that way we shall see, I am thinking about the Monster twin as well as it fits in my power goals and I would assume if driven sensibly it'll take more.

Regarding the slave - you don't have to replace it, but you really, really should. Many a stock clutch has been blamed for problems that are actually issues with the slave. Until about a year ago the GM slave included a plastic throw out bearing support. Plastic and heat never get along, and when used hard that part would melt, run the bearing out of square, destroy it, and allow the slave to over-travel destroying it as well. Real stupid setup. The billet aluminum support solves for that. In the last year or so GM superseded the part number 19210297 with 19421324. This new part number has a revised, metal throw out bearing support. Both parts are still out there - if you get an older one, make sure you get a billet support for it. If you get a new one, you shouldn't need it (and it is not compatible with the upgraded part).

I have the Billet support and the Remote bleeder in my parts bin, My Slave is low mileage with no abuse, But will change it if needed. I was going to reach out to Monster and ask them if it was crank or Wheel but you seem to have answered that for me. When replacing the slave is it typically a GM unit that is used?
