ACammer's 3,000th post - some retrospection

I've owned my 2011 Camaro SS for nearly 10 years, and I've been here on Camaro5 nearly as long. Camaro5 was a near-daily destination of mine for many years, and continues to be a place I stop into usually at least once or twice a week. I noticed today that I was at 2,999 posts, so I figured I'd take 3,000 for myself to reflect a bit.

My car - man, I still love that thing after 10 years. The green was not my first choice - the other half really liked that color, and she sold me on it. I knew I wanted an LS3 with a manual behind it, and I wasn't overly concerned about the color. Man, I'm so glad she put her foot down on it - because it's become iconic to me. There are so few cars that color that it gets instant recognition where-ever it goes. I like that the car has notoriety in my local areas for being bright green and sounding racy.

It's been through a few evolutions with various modifications, but always with the over-arching theme of being fun. I never want to lose the all-purpose nature of the car. I'm passionate about drag-racing, and certainly I've made modifications that focus in that direction, but I've tried to make sure the car can still go run around at an auto-cross or HPDE, and I've always had it where I can drive it anywhere.

It also led me to GPI, where I was fortunate to be treated like family from my very first interactions as a customer, and eventually spearheading a new role and work model for the company. It's been a heck of a journey, and I am so grateful for the friendships, the knowledge, and the opportunities that relationship has given me. If you see this Rhino79 and WEISHAAR37 - I appreciate you guys!

What's next for the 'ol 2011 - I dunno. Life has a lot of recreational activities on hold as I focus on a complicated family dynamic, and my own aging and failing body. But I can tell you that car ain't going anywhere. It may only get an oil change this year, but I'm gonna keep enjoying it every chance I get. Some day it really deserves a centrifugal supercharger so I can keep up with all my buddy's that actually have fast cars!

I appreciate the heck out of this forum and the people here. You're all a part of this journey, and I love interacting with this group. I really hope I'm making a 5,000th post some day! Lets keep this place a great resource for technology and great conversation.

Right here with you bro, always checking in here to see what's new and contribute info when I can. PS, we don't all have superchargers the parts I have installed in addition to your excellent tuning have been putting a smile on my face for years and that's good enough for me, just wish we all lived closer together

That is a pretty unique Camaro color. I can say the same thing about mine. I have never owned a car I liked after 8 years, let alone going in 11. I didn't realize the downside of keeping it that long would be the disappearing parts list! But that's what makes the forum so cool. You came come here and hopefully get most problems resolved.

And I too want a supercharger. Maybe someday!

Congrats Andrew on your 3000th post!! Also a not to you to say THANKS for all the info you have to share with us on the forum, and being an all around nice guy, and friend to a bunch of us. It is because of your well known advice of trial and error that I have done certain mods to my Camaro to get it "just right" in the performance aspect. And I have to agree with you on your Camaro's color, it is one of the best colors out there, if they would have one in that color when I bought mine, I would have gotten it for sure! I don't hardly ever see ANY of that color in my weekend "therapy cruises" and shows, they just don't come out, and not hardly any in my RJT color either. Gotta say though, your Camaro has come a long way in it's build to entice all of us performance guys to raise the bar some, and still be able to enjoy what it's all about, fun and satisfaction!! I have owned my Camaro for 14 years now, and like you joined this forum to see whats going on, and better my knowledge on these fine automobiles, and low and behold, I've been a standing member for 14 years now, AND also can't believe I'm at 13, 900 posts already!! But I guess that's what happens when you have a forum such as ours to seek, learn, and share all sorts of info on our Camaro's. There are a lot of you guys on here such as yourself and many others that I admire and respect. I visit this forum just about everyday, many times a day, because there is always someone in need of some help and direction, and if I can lend a hand, I'm all for the betterment of them, and the forum. I love it, and do hope that it NEVER dies out, unlike the OEM parts that are non-existant for our Camaros anymore. Again CONGRATULATIONS, and thanks.. Oh, and I too and thinking about a centri down the line. lol. Yep, we're never done.. Cheers..

Great post & congrats on #3000 Andrew! Your knowlege is priceless & you explain things in a way that not many can. You are a great friend & teacher. I will never forget the day @ my shop when I loaded the base tune for the new motor & the nay sayers claiming you only see this on tv & you don't just load a tune & turn the key. Well, fast forward a couple years & a lot of those same guys are still fighting with carbs & distributors. They now reluctantly admit that I have it all. Rediculous performance, driveability, reliability, great gas mileage & FUN! I can't thank you & your team enough.

Ya'll are what makes this community work - good, encouraging people - I'm just doing what I can to be a part of it. I'm awed by the post counts some of ya'll have racked up, and it inspires me to stay involved, and keep doing my part to help where I can. I'll be honest, I cherry pick, I can't get into everything thread, and so often there is already been plenty of good replies and I don't like to add on just to log another reply. But I'm gonna keep doing my best to pop in here when I can. I'm still learning, just like all of us, and this place teaches me plenty every time I'm here!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Great write up and congratulations on the milestone! I may not be local to you, but did recognize you in your car on the strip at Camarofest in the past. It is definitely a sweet ride!

Best of luck with the family dynamic and aging body. I feel the aging body thing more than ever this week. Hopefully I’ll see you again at Camarofest in the future!
