Hi All,
Couple quick questions. 1. Do I lose the USB port located in my armrest 2. I see there’s the two USB ports in front of the cam1. Can I get a splitter to make them both work? Seems like only one will be plugged in otherwise? Thank you for your time! Last edited by DMan918; 03-27-2021 at 11:20 AM. |

You can only use one unless your radio has multiple inputs

iMaestro dash kit buttons not working
Did you ever have any issue with the lock/unlock button on the head unit not working? I have a Kenwood DMX709S head unit, and the touch screen controls for the heated seats and rear windshield defroster also don't work as well. The key fob lock and unlock buttons (separate) still work.
Also note that the door unlock/lock button on the center of the head unit, seems to only work when the door is opened and it briefly gives power. After the dome light goes off (if set to door open/close), the lock/unlock center console button no longer has power; that is, unless you either turn the key in the ignition, hit the locks on the key fob, or open the door. I tried checking all the fuses and relays, which are good and mainly in the engine bay fuse box. I even checked the 2nd fuse box that's in the driver side of the dash, on the side of the fan vent; nothing. I didn't bother going to the 3rd fuse "box" located in the trunk, under the carpet and mats, since I think there's nothing related there, not to mention it requires the trunk panels to be removed.... iMaestro dash kit buttons not working |

Folks, I need your help. Since 2019, when I did my initial install the mods I made in the beginning of this thread have worked with no issues. About 2 months ago, while the car was sitting for about 3 months, my battery died, after having the battery replaced, my head unit, the Kenwood DDX9705S, started acting really weird. On start up, the screen turns half white, half black, and can take from 30 seconds to 5 minutes to actually start up, sometimes trying to reset multiple times, and sometimes I need to turn the ignition off a few times. This usually happens when the car is cold. If I turn the car off while stopping for gas for example, the head unit starts up just fine. All the fuses look fine, I have not yet removed the head unit to check the inline fuses, it's way too cold for that. I have included a pic and while it's in this mode, none of the buttons work.
I unfortunately don't have the car in my possession at the moment, my son took it to school. I just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before |

First thing I'd recommend is the easy option. Since it's starting up, it shouldn't be a fuse. There's the possibility that the program in the radio got corrupted while sitting without power.
Go to kenwood support site and download the firmware into a usb drive and load it onto the radio. The file and instructions can be found at the link below: https://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/fir...2018o/eng.html Beyond that, might be a damaged physical board on the radio. |
