Whoops... you made me look. 38k posts

It's definitely been a great place to hang out and converse with Camaro Pals like you. Then Camaro Fest brought a lot of us the face-to-face friendships.

Camaro's went on order Oct 2008 and I was signed up for an email notification. When that e-mail came down I searched up Camaro 5.com to find information on ordering. I was in Perth Australia at the time so I downloaded everything I could to my laptop and studied the options during my 24hr+ flight back. There were airline issues and a strike in Australia, hence the extra long flight time but I had good reading material.

Soon as I got home and took a shower (no sleep) I told my wife to get in the car as we were going to the dealership. She had no idea about the Camaro and I told her she could help pick out the color. So, my order was one day late but I got there as fast as I could.

Then when the car arrived May (Memorial Day weekend) because CGM was constrained I was in Africa so had to wait again. My wife went down and took pictures for me but we didn't take delivery for a few more days. Fun times but that's how I got signed up so early on this site.

Wow! Cool story Mike! Yeah when they first came out and I was looking at them, one of my friends had bought one, and I saw him at the gas station, he let me sit in it, and that's all it took! Dejavu of my old 69 I used to own, plus I loved the body lines of the Camaro over the new stangs and challengers, which I've owned both before, they just didn't look like the "old school" cars I owned, except the Camaro, it had the look. So off I went and bought the one I have in the RJT color right off the showroom floor! Apparently someone ordered it, then changed their mind on it, mine now!! lol. Like was mentioned above, I've made a LOT of online friends on here, you included, but just wished the Camarofest's weren't so far away from me, would love to meet "the family".. Anyway, we shall carry on and keep our passion for these awesome Camaro's going!! Cheers everyone!!

I may be the oldest member both on camaro5 and my age @ 83, and a member since Feb '08. Back in 2007 I went with my Grandson to Carlisle Pa to see the prototype Camaros in the GM tent. I was blown away and told my Grandson that the day the Camaro could be ordered I would do so. I had my name at a few local dealers stating I would pay MSRP. Some blew me off as they would sell all they could get at above that amount. Then the Summit White I insisted on was delayed several weeks. Finally ordered my SS with every option available at the time. Got it on 8/21/09. We are both going strong after 15 years and 74,000 miles.

Wayne talked me into yanking the front end of mine off and installing the Heritage grille. Best mod for the fifth gen I think and all worth it but those upper 10mm bolt horror stories worried me.😦

I do an appearance mod every year on the anniversary when I bought it new and in seven weeks it'll be fourteen years. Trying to decide what mod this year. The way the weather's looking this weekend it might be a snowplow tho. 🥶

Time

Yes Wayne, I can"t believe it's seven years for me. What blows my mind is my CamaroGen5 is 12 years old now. I still love just staring at her. You've all been a bunch of great people and while I'm nowhere near 14,000 posts, you've all been tremendous people. I've learned so much on this forum

Time certainly flies! I bought my 2000 SS 21 years ago and found a local forum NorCal-LSX and through there I learned about LS1tech.com and been on there for 21 years also. Then, when Transformers came out I fell in love with the 5th Gen. I got to see the red prototype at the SF auto show later that year, even hopped on stage and got a picture with it while security wasn’t looking lol And then signed up here in 09, I still had my 2000 SS. When the 5th gen’s started hitting the streets I loved them, but the crowd base around here showed no love or respect for any of the previous generations unless it was a 1st Gen so I was kinda turned off. But when I saw Berger Chevrolet’s announcement of their special edition’s, I couldn’t stop viewing the customer cars on the dealership website . . . even emailed Dick Jacques about pricing and how much it would be to ship to Cali. I never thought I’d ever buy a Berger Camaro because of the cost. Well I sold the 4th Gen in 2012, bought it back from the guy in 2016 lol started tinkering with it to build it how I wanted and then 4 years ago my wife gave me the ultimatum of either I could save the money for building the 4th Gen how I wanted it or if I could find a 5th Gen with exactly the mods I would do, sell the 4th Gen to buy it. Well surprisingly I found a rare Berger and it had exactly what I would’ve to my 4th gen and when I realized the price was about what I’d put into my 4th gen, we sold the 4th Gen and pulled the trigger on the Berger Camaro. Now to circle back to when I was emailing Dick Jacques, I now have his number and talk with him from time to time and also I’ve recently gotten ahold of the previous owner of this 5th Gen. Its been a fun experience in a car community! I’ve learned so much and continue to try to help people.

They grow pretty fast on you don’t they? I test drove a 6th Gen SS 1LE before deciding on the 5th Gen and still don’t regret passing up the 6th Gen. There is something about how the 10-13 looks that just screams to me.

When I see my pictures of my 4th gen I miss it and each time I see YouTube videos with 4th gens I really miss mine also. I definitely made mine unique in a very good way. Tell me about yours, have pics?

I have plenty but not on the work laptop im on. Ill try to get some loaded up soon. It was a 2001 SLP SS. Red, black roof, t-tops, 6 speed, center mount exhaust, couple bolt ons, and the manta stripe on the SS hood scoop. If you look up my username i believe i posted it in the 4th gen section of this site once. Yeah, it was an awesome car. I shoulda kept it instead of trading but i was blinded by just wanting the 5th gen

Yes sir, same with me.
During the test drive with the salesman any negotiations went out the window when I said out loud "crap, I just wanted a test drive and now I've gotta buy it".

Understandable and very nice! Mine was a 2000 SS Bright Rally Red hut a Hardtop with cloth interior. Years ago I got the breakdowns from SLP and found out my car was 1 of 103 because it was a hardtop. The SLP build number was #867. I did the SLP/Berger style stripes, c5 z06 wheels, Strano coils, Sweet Thunder Exhaust. I had the hard top painted body color back in 06 to stand out even more than it was
