Funny thing a Mercedes guy said to me yesterday..

When I was out taking some new pics of the car, a guy approached me on his bicycle, with his two kids attached on the back, very nerdy, started asking alot about the Camaro, and seemed fairly car savvy at least at first, told me he had an AMG something or other wagon and that it's 0-60 time was 4.1, which is probably true. he couldn't believe how fast the Camaro stock 0-60 time was when I told him 4.6 and practically told me I was lying. anyway, I told him I had the LS3 V-8 from the Corvette. Then we started talking about gas mileage and I told him even the V-8 can get 25-27 or so on the highway. So with him knowing it's the LS3 V-8 from the Vette, he still asks "wow, so with that kind of gas mileage you must have a small 3.0 liter V-8 or something like that?"

Of course, I correct him with the 6.2L and add that the V-6 Camaro even has an engine larger than a 3.0 liter ummm....V-8

haha, yep, booyah! yeah, i was so impressed with the guy's talk about his grocery getter. I could care less. He wasn't a true Camaro fan. I was approached later at a gas station when filling up by several true Camaro fans, just admiring and asking questions, unbiased, and truly standing back and just in total awe of the car. I actually had to tell them i needed to go, had someone behind me needing to get to the gas pump--think he was driving a BMW!

while i was in vegas, i left my car at a very high end bodyshop, that will not work on north american cars, to get my GFX painted as a professional favor. its ABM, and is a bit tricky to match variant wise. anyway this am i go grab my wheels, and its parked in between a c65 amg, and a bmw m6. i go inside and look at my pieces, and i come out to the mercedes guy handing out compliments like candy on halloween. beautiful color, nice paint work, etc. then he was asking if it was reasonably fast, so i popped the hood, and Maggie jumped out, his eyes went A-OOO-GA, and he said he would love to drive it. many merc guys are cool, unless its there first, and its an entry level car, bought on 0 down with payments. I have a buddy that wants to trade me for a day for his year old F430. this car has definite appeal to a well rounded crowd.

Moron wanted to be happy he spend over $100,000 on a car that's slower than yours in a straight line, and looks exatly like every other mercedes.

The Mercedes guy is just pissed about the fuel economy...I had the SLK55 AMG for a spell, and that pig only got about 16-18 on the HIGHWAY! Only 355 HP, mind you. Chevy definitely has the power/MPG thing nailed.

There is certainly a distinct line between the two. But, when you pay $200K plus, you should expect more. I think I would also accept this offer to swap for a day, before the offer expires!

they have more Ferraris in stock more than anywhere in north america. i asked at the door if they had the model, and the doorman/sales whore asked me if i was in the market, i said no, and he snubbed me, so i turned around and proceeded to blow more in the casino than he makes in a month. i never did say why i wanted to look at one.
