EB Mustang has been delayed, partly because the Mustang is getting three new engines for MY2011. The EB Mustang will therefore be delayed, so it can make a big splash when it debuts, and not get drowned out in the hooplah over the 5 liter.

It will be a FUN car when debuted. As of now, it will likely carry the Shelby GT350 name, and be paired with a 6-speed manual and/or DCT, an IRS, and a quite lusty 425hp motor. Performance is astonishing, from what I've heard, due to the near perfect weight balance and mesa-flat torque curve.

A MY or two later, it'll be available outside the $$$ Shelby package.

Ah, sorta kinda. Shelby has long been considering building an EB GT350, the problem with most of the net world is that it is only now getting wind of where the consideration process was with this car six months ago. To put everything into perspective.

1: Ecoboost as a possible option for a Mustang assembled on the production line has not been a consideration for either the 2011 or 2012 model year for well over a couple of years now. Rumors floated since then have been exactly that.

2: Shelby American has been considering a 3.5L 'EB' powered GT350 for quite some time, if it does happen the motor will crank out quite a few more ponies than the average EB mill and may or may not be tagged as an EcoBoost piece since it may not fit the EcoBoost ethos perfectly. If it happens the car will be built in Vegas, not on the regular Mustang line, and IRS wont be on the table for this car unless and until the GT500 gets it. As for that possibility, right now IRS for the GT500 is still undecided and definitely wont happen for the 2011MY unless somebody has a change of heart and is willing to delay 2011 GT500 production to get it done.

With the price/availability of the truck 6.0L iron block I'm not suprised. This upgrade has been going on since the 4th gen. Camaro/Firebird days. Everyone and their mom got a 408c.i. built after they FINALLY paid off their car loans. Lol In know locally there are a few Fox body owners running around with LS power too.

Man that could be a steal in work your saving alone. But, needs a tune could mean a lot of things...like car doesnt run....somethings broke and hes hiding it ect ect. Plus welding up holes in the firewall? With no interior pics and 4 total pics of the car. It could be a deal....eitherway when its finished it will be a sleeper.

To add more fuel to the fire, Shelby is now offering a Turbo GT500 package base upon the Turbonectics kit. The hood is butt ugly (IMO) but it does seem that a EB powered Shelby 350 is not that far fetched at all now.

Also from a very well known engine/car builder in the ford camp..

That pretty much cinches it up for me. These guys have there fingers all inside ford...The guy says they have seen it in person and watch it test. Yep things are getting interesting..

If that were the case, I would think Ford would have a hard time justifying making a GT500 at all, unless it had significant increases in power to make up for the massive weight it has over a regular GT if it really had 468 hp with no weight increases and no price increases like I keep seeing on here.

I can't wait to see what Ford brings to the table (so to speak). I'm interested in seeing how much the weight, price, hp/tq will increase over the 2005-2009 Mustang GT.

The GT500's now have 540 HP so that's right at 75 HP difference, also I don't remember where I read it but Ford is supposed to be using a Aluminum block 5.4L motor in the 2011 GT500's so that will lighten them up a little.

GT500 will have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Not disagreeing at all but doesn't everyone say that the big advantage the GT500 has is it's iron block?

Meh, I am not worried about Ford wanting to be "King of the Hill" w/ the GT500. They won't produce enough to come remotely near the numbers GM is seeing w/ the new Camaro, and they'll be priced well beyond what we're asking for a SS.

I'm happy that Ford has stepped up it's game, I enjoy a little competition.

Having said that, Ford will not sit long on the throne. It's just a matter of time until GM returns the Z to it's rightful place, and restores order to the Pony Car War!

BTW, where is Dodge?

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Z was never the badass that the SS are/were. So unless GM changes how it's done thing's in the past, this will be no different.
