Oshawa Plant to Whitby for "factory installed stripes" - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I noticed on many of the newer window stickers the following:

HANDLING CHARGE FROM OSHAWA PLANT, TO GROUND EFFECTS LTD., WHITBY ONT, BACK TO OSHAWA PLANT.
Here is an example.

This is the location that the "Factory Installed" Rally Stripes are applied.

After a quick Mapquest check, it appears that Ground Effects LTD is about
6 1/4 miles away from the Oshawa plant.

So here's my question, how do they get the Camaros back and forth?
Do they use car transports?
Railcar?
Or do they drive them back and forth?

I am leaning rail, but I know some forum members have stated that thier cars had as many as 40 miles on them at delivery.
Enquiring minds need to know.

They drive them, the same way they get them from the end of the line to the lots for loading on carriers and trains. My sister-in-law works at an office along the route, and she watches them drive by all day long.

if they in fact drive them back and forth as you said, every new Camaro with the stripes option will have at leat 12 miles on the ODO at delivery.

That sucks....my car had exactly 3 miles on the ODO at delivery!

Thats the reason mine had 22 miles on it at delivery
This inspection sheet from the vendor who
does the stripes was givin to me by the dealer

They are driven. In fact you won't find anybody that has less than 12 miles on their odometer upon delivery if they had factory installed stripes.

We've been to the stripe facility twice in the last two weeks. Great buch of guys there. Also gives me a chance to continue my stick lessons on the long industrial road there!

well at the time, I was TOLD that my car was TRUCKED and was logged as such, this was before they started doing them ALL there, at the time, ONLY two colors were done there, the rest were done at the dealers. and this was well before the Oshawa event. SO, this may be the why its done currently, but not they it was at the time, so I have been told, and since you live there, who you would know better than I...... it's not a big deal

They are driven there. That was the procedure since production started.

Well......that's been fine so far (except for the additional mileage).....but now winter is on it's way.

I'd hate to see them travel over the salty/sandy streets for the next few months.
