Quorum,
Honestly you need to grow up. People who buy a v6 camaro have the same rite to have a nice sporty looking car, as do the people who buy a v8. Some people prefer to have the fully loaded v6, because it's basically the same look as the v8 except a mail slot and a little different front lip. To them the 100 hp difference isn't a big deal. They rather save money by being able to put regular gasoline in their car, pay cheaper insurance, and save $7,000 compared to a fully loaded v8. The camaro is a mass produced vehicle, therefore there is going to be plenty of other camaros on the road that look the same as yours. The sooner you realize that, the better off we all will be. If you still can't get over the facts, then you can throw some nice stickers on your car to make it "different." Maybe you can get some good hp gains from that too. Haha

I dont mean to offend you or any one else but I dont care for the 5th gen but the 4th gen is a different story, I love it, or at least the 98-02.

WHA-WHA_WHAAAAAAAAT?????

Kiddin man The early 4th gen was the first car to ever catch my attention, and I'm still headoverheels for the sleek design... I was suprised when I saw the comeback Concept in 06, but it didn't take long to warm up to it.. And when I saw the production version, it was all over, had to have one...

Without actually knowing you quorum all I can say is that you SEEM very image driven. If you weren't then the fact that you have a V8 under the hood would be more then enough to seperate yourself from the V6 guys. There is absolutely no reason, in my eyes, why an RS, 1LT or 2LT can't look the exact same as an SS. In fact, with most cars produced today, the only way to tell if one has a more powerful engine then another is the exhaust tips and/or the badging on the car.

And is there a "wrong" reason to get a mod???

I don't think you're gonna have to worry about that, after all, the '69 Camaros are still hot and it's been a lot longer than 15 yrs. These 5th gens will stand the test of time.

I'm not looking down on other Camaro car owners: let it be written that all Camaros be hot looking! Just let mine look a little different - that's all.

Even if the SS looked a lot different than the V-6 yours would still look like all the other SS's on the road. Therein lies the beauty of customization.

For the record, I got the SS because I wanted 400hp and 4 second 0-60 times. I got the 2SS because I like the leather and the extra value (based on my experiences from the car I sold). I got the RS because I wanted the HIDs. I got the moon roof, because it's my fun car. See - I got the mods for all the right reasons.
For the record, I got the V-6 because I didn't want 400hp and 4 second 0-60 times. I wanted lower gas mileage and cheaper insurance, and I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere THAT fast. Besides, the V-6 will haul plenty of ass. I got the 1LT because, frankly, the only 2LT I could find on the lot was $3000 over MSRP. I got the RS because I wanted the HIDs and the 20" rims. I got the C&C package because I'm addicted to my iPOD and I love hands-free calling. So you see? I got the mods for all the right reasons too.

I bought a Camaro because my wife wanted a new car,
Bought a RS to get the power seats (she is short)
See good practical reasons in a free country.

Now I have a SSR which is not practical and is expensive.
But I had to have it, because to me it drips style why others hate the way it looks.
That’s sort of against the OP thinking that we all buy to impress others.

I don't think you get the car thing at all. When I go look at a car I'm not worried about how many looks It's going to get or how many of them is going to be on the road. I buy because it does something for me. If you are a true car guy and not just someone looking to show off, it wouldn't bother you. Your reference to the mustang was your opinion and not fact. I love the mustang and think it's a great car. I bought the camaro because it had more power in the same price bracket as the gt.
And thing you keep saying about your hard earned money and having a better car because of it makes no sense. Didn't you know what the hell you were buying before you bought it and how it compared to the other model? If I don't think a car is good enough, I don't go out and buy it and then complain about it later saying that I WORK HARD TO BUY AN SS AND IT SHOULD BE DIFFERENT. Go take your hard earned money and buy the car that makes you look good to everyone in your eyes and let us car nuts
enjoy them because they are great cars and not status symbols.
And, stop saying that I'm like you because from what I'm reading I'm most certainly not.

Actually, many people here love American muscle, period. That includes the Mustang, and much of the joking is just friendly rivalry. So many here would disagree with you that the Mustang isn't "hot" - they just think the Camaro is hotter. I also disagree with you that "common" is not hot. My 2010 black/black Camaro 2SS/RS is hot. Period. How many other people in the world own one does not change MY car. I think there would also be issues there with the word "common." At what point does a car become "common?" 200,000 sold? 300,000? If there are 300,000 sold but no one else in my town has one, is it common or not?

Quote:
I asked the question to someone: "why did you buy the RS?", and the guy didn't get the point. People buy the RS because they like the differences. So the fact that you paid money for the RS means you think the same as me.
I bought the RS package because, after getting jerked around by my original dealer for 3 months - who said they had allocation and they did NOT, the only thing in 2SS black/black Becky@RodgersChevrolet had on her lot at that moment HAPPENED to have the RS package. The original car I ordered didn't have it. I really like the halogens, but I don't know if I would've paid $1200 for them. The different wheels don't look better than the normal wheels to me (they don't look worse either, they just look different imo) The taillights look a little better IMO w/ the darker red, but again, that was no big deal to me. The body molding to the shade of your car meant nothing since my car was black. But at that point, for what I was already paying for the car, an additional $1200 upgrade was fine, considering she could immediately ship it to me, so I went for it. So I guess you were wrong on why EVERYONE bought the RS.

Yep, I've got a similar story. Saw a '96 Firebird at my school and fell in love with the sleek design. I found out the Camaros ran on the same frame, looked up the '93-'97 Camaro, fell in love with that, and then decided to look up the final production body (up until the 2010), and I knew what I wanted.
As you can see, I didn't go wrong.

Very nice cars! I'm digging the Mustang.
But, I really like yellow cars, so I'm only slightly biased.

Love the yellow 'stang. I wanted one of those for years - was so upset when Ford stopped producing screaming yellow after the 2006 model. :(

Thanks for the compliments on the Mustang!

I guess part of me just likes taking the COMMON V6 and turning it in to something UNCOMMON!
