My wife won't help clean it, so she doesn't get to drive it. Plain and simple. When she helps keep it clean she can help get it dirty.

I drive mostly in the sun, but it seems everytime I make an appointment to go to the shop or something it rains. It never fails. I do not mind either way, but it is much easier keeping it detailed if you drive it when not raining. I see the plus factor for both.

Agreed. Man, if I had a new Camaro I'd be behind the wheel every day - regardless of weather! Some people think these cars are so fragile. I like a clean car as much as anyone, but saying "it'll never see rain" is pretty extreme. Cars are made to be driven - outdoors!

Sorry................but if you dont drive it in inclement weather, you are missing out on the fun. I just wish it would snow down here in So-Cal as I really miss winter driving. When I lived in Montana, it was a challenge to keep whatever I was driving sliding around and NOT going straight. Oh.... and those wide open, iced up mall parking lots.......how can you not drive your Camaro in the winter? It really cuts down on the cost of tires.

I have a Highlander as my daily driver. When I get my Camaro, I won't be afraid to drive it on rainy days. Snow and salt are a whole different matter. The Camaro won't see the snow and salt.

Man, I thought this post was done already, isn't that horse dead yet? LOL! thing is, I don't have to drive it in bad weather, i have a second car, and I am usually out of town 3 out of 4 weeks a month parked on a construction site. and it's not just the rain itself, it's the road grime, rust and other debris that occurs, and once you get sunspotting on all the windows after a rain when the sun comes out, those spots aren't coming off.

I've got plenty of time to put miles on this car, it's not my goal to put 20K miles a year on it. It was always going to be a mainly weekend, pleasure, fair weather car. i want to keep my car in great condition and I plan on keeping it for a very long time and will have a great return on my investment.

Sorry, dude. With all due respect, I'm new here, and I guess I don't quite have the hang of these forums yet. I thought perhaps you had started this thread because you were interested in what others might have to say about the topic.

Best response ever.

I could understand treating a classic like this & keeping it in mint condition, but unless you're going to keep the car for 40 years, there's almost no point in treating it like a classic.

Welcome to the site, yep, that was the original intent. Great to hear the difference in opinions and glad to see that everyone's different. Best of luck on your new purchase!

car has seen tons of rain im sure of it. Through the downpoor test, to sitting in Oshawa, it has probably been rained on pretty bad. The car has seen rain in its lifetime, doesnt mean it needs to see it anymore. Everyone has their own opinions, if you feel the need to never drive in the rain, then dont, its your car and whatever makes you happy.
Ive driven mine in sunlight, rain and sadly a sort of windstorm, car was great. I just hope my car will never have to see snow.
Enjoy your cars however you want them guys, whether theyre your everyday driver, or weekend sunbirds. Have fun and just be safe

I agree, a little rain never hurt anyone! It's been raining off and on all day.

Dont drive your car in the rain..

The rain has high levels of toxicity and impurities which will inevitably diminish the painting of your vehicle.

Rain also contains traces of acidic elements due to pollution..inevitably, the acid will eat through the hood of the vehicle and get to the engine, it will turn into a clunker!

Do you drink water from a well or do you drink bottled or filtered water?

If its rain in the forecast, you never know if it could hail! What are you going to do then? Might as well be driving behind a construction vehicle loaded with gravel.

Plus you got to deal with mud..rain stains..getting a car wash the next day..OH THE AGONY!

And if its raining..a lightning bolt might strike your car. What then??

.....

LAWL

..People, this isn't an airplane youre driving. Its a car. if planes can fly in rain, heavy downpours, sleet and snow..im sure your car can handle the drizzle. Its not an airplane. Its a car.
