I know some tracks mandate that you wear helmets, some others don't. Word of advice, make sure to get a helmet for auto racing, and not for motorcycles.

What??? I thought most of the autocross and oval track type racing that we would be doing in our slightly modified cars only required Snell M-2005 and not Snell SA-2005 safety rated helmets!
