Yes. While both cases you're pretending to be something you're not, its a lot better to appear to be less rather than more.

Instead of badges, what if we were talking about engine power? Two cars are rated at 300 hp. One is underrated and actually makes about 350 hp. The other is overrated and actually makes 250 hp. Each is being equally deceptive, but one will cause bitterness amongst owners and will be laughed at by other enthusiasts while the other gives owners great big grins. A similar case can be made for up-badging vs down-badging

SS debadging = a wolf in sheep's clothing
V6 with SS badging = little brother wanting to be like big brother

what happens when you run into another camaro guy and you look like a a@@ in front of him or her? what would you say then? i do understand that the majority of people wouldn't know but if you wanted a SS then you should have ordered one. Be proud of your V6 i know i am.

ooooooooooorrrrrrrrrr add a twin turbo or a supercharger to the v6 then you can add the SS symbol and make it stand for SUPER SLEEPER. lol im trying to help but thats the best i can come up with.

not really the same because both people BELIEVE they are driving cars with 300 HP, one just can't perform to what it is supposed to be and one overperforms..
in the case of someone badging a V6 as a SS he KNOWS he has 304HP and knows he cannot perform like a real SS, and the guy that debadges his SS knows he does have over 400HP and it will perform like a real SS.

the Moral of this story is : It's better to be one and not look like one than to look like one and not be one ....
