Actually it does make sense. Think of the cost of re-tooling the dash panels, motor mounts, belt routing to accommodate the steering shaft location, re-tooling headers and other hoses and lines, re-engineering the exhaust system to match the re-engineered headers, and so on. Even the power seats have different controls, right vs. left. Throttle pedals, clutch setup, the list goes on and on. And that's to be able to sell a mere handful of cars compared to the thousands of them which are sold here.

I'd guess the profit margin is even less for a modded car than it is here.

All I can say is pay back is a bitch!

For almost 10 years, Australia got to play with the WRX and the EVO while us enthusiasts in the States had to drool from a distance. Now its our turn to show off!!!

I know it doesn't ease the pain, but I am still laughing!

We all here in the good old USA and nothing to complain about.

Sounds to me someone needs to take a flight here, and have one shipped back. Good luck.

I could see that being a solid argument, but the photos in the ad are of a left-hand drive car, and nowhere does it mention it being right-hand drive.

Not to mention Chevy has already said they will NOT be making a right-hand version, which dictates that there won't be any parts to make it a right-hand drive vehicle.

So, 145k for a Camaro is asinine.

200 years ago, criminals made up the bulk of Australia's population. Now, they just make up the bulk of its car salesmen.

Although some have joked about shipping an amercian car over there, that actually would be the way to go.

Buy an american version and ship it to Australia. Yeah, the steering will be on the wrong side but so what. You probably could buy and ship 2 Camaros for what it would cost to buy one in Australia. Probably with money left over.

it's the same problem with americans getting imports such as a Nissan skyline, my buddy payed $60 for a $30 k car that is slower than my new car, id let mine go for 75k,. then maybe upgrade to a 2SS or Z28.. hmmmm got me thinking now
