What I find strange is how Audi needs TWO turbos on a V-10 to make 572hp. ITS A V-10!! WTF?? But, it is only 5 litres, so I see how that make sense. But GM can turn around and using a 6.2 litre time tested OHV pushrod small block with 1 supercharger and squeeze 556hp. Why is that?? Without the Audi's turbos and CTS-V's supercharger, the 5.0 V-10 and 6.2 V-8 make similar HP numbers. The AWD in the Audi to me doesn't help much except maybe in the twisties but its a slower car still and weighs almost 500lbs more. And its bland IMO. The CTS-V screams I'll kick your a$$.

The Audi ways a ton and handles it's weight too from the reviews I've read. Aside from that these things have absolutely wretched reliability. Something you won't have to think about with the CTS-V, which I'm sure also includes the 100k GM powertrain warranty.

I've come to the conclusion that German cars, while very attractive in a variety of aspects, really offer nothing more than temporal automotive fashion. Whether it be technology, design; these things are NOT designed to last, they're designed to break so that when they do..... you go get a new one. I know you can say that for cars in general, but I think this sentiment fits the German car to a "T".

Audis all look the same to me. They're so bland—almost the Honda of luxury cars.
I would definitely say they're the same category. They're the not quite full size luxury sedans with monster power. Their both the entrant in that category for their respective manufacturers. Therefore they have to be compared.

On the subject of people who say they'd take the extra 30k and put it into mods for the Cadillac. Who would really do that? Does anyone here buy something that costs 50k in cash? How bout 80k? Not most people so the question should be like. Do you want a 1000 dollar a month payment or a 1500 dollar a month payment. Or whatever the math is.

For my part, it'd be tough. But when it comes to handling, I'd put my money on the V. And looks and drivingwise, I'd still go with the V.

Too bad they only gave it a low-displacement V-8 with 354 HP. For the same price, I could get a 335i, slap a piggy-back tune on it, and walk all over the S5...or [drum roll, pun intended] get an SS/RS for much less and still beat an S5. Another little interesting fact--the S5 is even heavier (~3,900 lbs.) than the upcoming SS! ...But, the allure of the Audi (if I could afford it) is so tempting.
I like the looks of the audis too. People who say they don't scream "I'm a kickass car" know nothing of subtlety. They have graceful lines and muscular fender flairs that convey an image of aggression.

I disagree with the comment about the S5s V8. 4.2 liters is small for a V8 but it's a DOHC engine that puts out good power. It's a beautiful car. And 350hp is good for it. I understood it weighed about 3750 pounds. And 50k for it doesn't seem too bad. I'd go with the 335i too. It's faster without any mods anyway.

the CTS-V is an amazing car. I dont like the fact that i have trouble telling the difference between that 80k+ audi, and a 40k S4

doesnt matter what they use.

if you dont think the Germans are using the CTS-V as a benchmark and making sure they come out on top, you underestimate German arrogance.

plus, can't you buy a CTS-V and a Camaro SS and still have like $30,000 left over for the same price as the Audi?
