Give 1, maybe 2 years at most. The old 3.5 is being phased out starting in 2011. The new 3.6 in the Grand Cherokee is rated at 280 HP and gets around 24-25 MPG in a 5000 pound SUV. THis is the non DI and non Multiair version, there is supposed to be a DI version also and Fiats mutliair is coming on basically all engines. I would easily expect the DI version in a Challenger to at least match the Camaro and Mustang and the V6 Challenger Curbweight, currently, is around 3720 pounds. From what I am each of the 3, Chrysler, Ford, and GM, are in the process of out with the old, in with the new, these are exciting times whether you are looking for a fmaily sedan (Fusion, 11 or 12 CHarger, and the Buick Regal (who can argue with a 230 HP turbo 4 and a 6 speed manual in a damned Buick????)), or a pony car, or even a truck (gotta love the Raptor and the 2010 powerwagon)..

As above, official curbweight on the CHallenger SE is 3720 pounds.

3720 isn't too shabby, that's less than my car weighs by over 100 lbs and it's close to the camaro, right?

Yep, hey just need to get rid of the boat anchor under the hood. Actually the 3.5 isn't that bad, with the old 4 speed auto it was lacking on the low end, but felt pretty good up top. I haven't gotten to drive the 5 speed auto 2010, it should be quite a bit better because of gearing, 1st gear is like 3.60

Really?

I own a 2007 GT, and I'll admit I'm impressed with those numbers from a V6. I still just could not drive a muscle car without a V8, but that car is impressive. I'm curious to see the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times they get out of the car.

Yeah, the 545rfe is the same trans used in all the V8s chrysler has including the Ram.

Yeah, no doubt, i forgot to take into effect the 3720 was 09 numbers, I am sure the 5 speed auto weighs a bit more than the ancient 4 speed, still, that is right with the V6 Camaro. It is going to get interesting as Fiat reeingineers the LX platform to get rid of the Benz pieces.

Yep, I like the MPG/power mix because I drive 50 miles each way to get to and from work. Add in great handling, decent looks, and well, you don't have have to compromise a fun car to get great gas mileage

There is no replacement for displacement...Except FI and engineering!

Anyways, back on topic, why do these threads keep popping up? Seriously, lets wait until Ford actually releases numbers and some people actually get to go out and test these cars, and then we can discuss. Everything right now is purely speculation, so let's keep it that way.

Its not going to be DI? I thought that was a given. Why hadn't anyone corrected me over the last several months? If they aren't using direct injection then the 400 hp starts to look a little questionable for me.

True. V6s account for the majority of Mustangs sold. So Ford made sure to up the performance of their V6 to match the Camaro.
