Best MP3 Player for the Camaro?

Looking for advice on which MP3 player is working best with the Camaro.

I keep seeing threads of people having issues with one player or another. Looking for people that haven't had any issues.

Thanks.

UCF wOOt,
Are you saying that you have been using a 5th gen iPod or newer and have not been experiencing the intermittant issue that everyone else is having? I have tried several devices and they all have the same problem. The PDIM will recognize the device and it will work fine for a while, then it does not recognize the device and you must unplug the device from the USB, then reset the device or the head unit or both. I would really like to find someone that has gone a week or two without this problem. I updated the PDIM to SW rev. CE, but still have the same problem. Did you get the CE update? Has anyone found a way to resolve this issue?

I have a 5th gen ipod. I've only experienced the issue where I've had to unplug it (because it just doesn't show up at all) 3 times in the last 4 months, driving the car every day. And I don't have to reset anything, just a quick unplug/replug of the ipod into the USB port cures it.
I haven't updated the PDIM, I think I have CC (or whatever was stock in July).
I would like the update though, just to have it not switch to the ipod every time I start the car.

No, I use a USB flash drive because I've been to cheap to go out and buy an iPod (it's on my christmas list though ). It was my understanding that CE fixed this issue. Check the wire you're using and make sure it's plugged in snugly.

Thanks for all the input so far. I guess there is no definitive list of what works.

I currently have a 2nd gen iPod, but I was thinking of upgrading to an iPod Touch when my car arrives, but now I'm not so sure since people have been having problems with a bunch of different mp3 players.

Maybe I'll start with my 250GB USB hard drive

more likely I'll use one of the 16GB flash drives that I have.

I used my iPhone 3GS on my test drive and it worked perfectly! It also worked with the bluetooth phone at the same time.

For those interested I just found a post from slick rick with a link to a list of supported devices. I haven't seen it before.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...7&d=1259212757

From the other messages I've seen even the supported devices can have problems though.

I've been using my 80GB iPod Video and it's been working great with the car but the iPod's hard drive died (had it since 2006). So I just got a 64GB iPod Touch and tried using that and I've been having nothing but problems navigating. I go into Artists and select an artist but I see album titles mixed in the artist list. I'm gonna get a new battery and hard drive for my 80GB and use that instead and just use my iPod Touch just at home and work.

I'm using Ipod touch. Not sure what gen. I bought my car on the 11th of november and have had no issues so far. The car always recognizes the unit, songs play in order, and the only time it forgets where I left of is when I unplug it to add more music. Don't know what SW or HW versions I have cause I don't know how to check.

Use what UCF said above. 5th Gen iPod, non-touch, non-shuffle. I use a 80GB 5th Gen iPod Classic. Been awhile since software was updated to CE and I have ZERO problems. Flawless ops. And so easy to create playists. AND NO INDEXING.

Flash drives are a cheap option, but have drawbacks. Fine if you want to deal with them.
