you forget the G8 is limited production. (about 30,000 a year) that is why it's expensive

I would say your argument is more that GM has yet to identify an aftermarket provider to do editions of the cars.

Such as stated Shelby/Ford, and Hurst/Dodge. I think we'll see something at SEMA if not before about aftermarket works.

That creates post-production costs like bidding wars and dealer markups. The G8 GXP doesn't have the same problem because the demand doesn't overwhelmingly exceed the supply.

I totally agree. If any of them are still here in 2020, they won't be anywhere near the performance of the current 422hp Camaro SS, 425hp Challenger SRT8 and 500hp Shelby GT500 Mustang. The Mustang GT should see an increase in horsepower for the mildly freshened 2010 model (chassis and all window glass remain unchanged) due out late next summer to match up better against the Challenger R/T and not lag too far behind the 400hp auto trans Camaro SS. But that will be the end of the current musclecar era. Future development funds will be spent on car models with improved mileage and alternative fuels, not on any more performance vehicles. The Corvette will continue on for the wealthy, but affordable performance will die. The Camaro and Challenger programs were approved a couple years ago, before $4 per gallon gas and the current bad economy. If they were up for approval today, neither program would be approved.

not when the camaro is less expensive with better performance, you can already get them at invoice.

Hmm, I'd say that the $40 000+ supercharged cars will beat the sub $30k Camaro. Now, a supercharged Camaro (be it by Chevrolet or some authorized aftermarket company) in the same price range should beat them both. Just like the SS will beat the sub 30k Challenger and Mustang. And the V6 will beat the sub 25k Challenger and Mustang. Heck, the V6 Camaro should hold its own against the Challenger R/T. And I think it's fair to compare a modified car to a stock one, you just need to agree on a set of rules, such as "you can't spend more than 1/3 the difference in price and still call it fair", so that lets you spend ~$4500 on upgrades to the Camaro.

I will personally buy you your Camaro SS if the MSRP is above $35,000.00. That is how confident I am that the Camaro SS will not cost that much. That's right, I bet you a Camaro.

When pricing comes out, I will start a threat that says, "I told you so," in the largest font available.

No disrespect, but Bob Lutz stated (and I believe Fbodfather confirmed as well) the SS Camaro will come within $500 to $1000 of the Mustang GT. Base price will be around $29k. Fully loaded I can see $35k, but base price will come in just under $30k.

I am pretty sure lutz said that it would be competetive and priced reasonably for what you get standard and quality and that can mean ALOT of things.

But if I am wrong plz correct me.
