I have a 2LT camaro which im absolutely in love with but i happen to live in one of the states where you have to have a front license plate. I REALLY dont wanna drill into the front bumper. Im leaning to Getting the license plate frame that drills on the bottom of the bumper and is manually retractable. What are your thoughts on it and do u have a better suggestion?? what have you guy been doing?. . .or are u just trying to skate by as long as u can without one like me

Truthfully, wait until you get pulled over and told to. Most cops around here won't call you on it unless you're screwing around too much, or giving them a bad time. I'm pictureless on this computer at the moment. But I will see if I can find a link to one of the other threads I posted in. One guy has a setup sorta like what you're talking about.

By the way, Welcome Aboard!!!

See if this link works. It was a thread I posted some photographs in. Check out the Aqua Camaro, at the right front. It belongs to Rob53. They aren't the best pictures, but it is still worth looking at!

I live in Cali but I also have a house in Arizona and I am going to register my car for the Arizona house because Arizona doesn't require front license plates so I get lucky there!

I asked my dealer put my license plate frame in my trunk. They said they do that for all Corvette and Camaro customers. Interesting what DMV says ... See attached PDF ...

Also, I saw a thread where someone came up with a good idea for the fix-it ticket. He bought some rubber for about $8 to cover the edges of the back of the frame, then tie wrapped it to the bumper. After the sign off, snip and you're back to a no hole bumper!

i'm in cali and my plan is to wait until i'm pulled over for it before i put something on. and if/when that happens, i'll put it on in a way that i can attach it to the lower grill part easily and not have to drill holes. that way i can take it off easily at meets and what not.

if you're going to drill holes in the bumper anyway, why not just put it on right? or are you planning on taking it off (or in this case, hiding it) at meets and shows too?

The reason for the front plate is for car/driver id when you run a red light that has a light camera is what I have been told.

Or you can use double sided tape temporarily.

i've read on here from police officers and my brother said the same thing (he was a police officer here, but moved to another state now), that the police like it so they can read your plate and run the plates if they're in front of you.

most camera intersections have cameras that take pictures of the rear of the vehicle too.

If that is the case placing it in the windshield would serve the same purpose, correct?

But, I hear they consider that unacceptable too??

My best advise is to move from that state! Lived there myself for 44 years, moved to TN in 05, best thing I ever did. I'm just kidding you, stay in CA if that's your love... For me I just got burned out on the politics, taxes, and a number of other things you all ready know about. Good luck with your plate buddy. BTW, In TN tags are 79.00 for any car! In CA tags cost me over 600 bucks a year, crazy
