I drove an RS SS in light snow and ice here in Michigan and it was terrible. I would definitely recommend getting snow tires if this is your plan.

Based on my experience of having a '76 Firebird and husband having a '79 Trams Am when we lived in Chicago, we didn't have a choice but to drive in the ice, snow and muck. We also didn't have special winter shoes for them, so you learn to be extra careful. I did get stuck in a snowdrift once, but some nice guys gave me a push out so no biggy.

Fastword to 2009, if and when our Camaro comes in we now have the luxury of keeping it in the garage on moisture producing days.

Sometimes you just have to make due with what you got and what you can afford. Good luck and stay safe.

Tirerack.com is offering a package of 18" tires/rims for 1196. If you opt in for the tire pressure sensors and metal valve, that is an additional 264, for a total of 1460. They also offer free Mounting and Balancing.

RIMS: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...nt&showRear=no

TIRES: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....cleSearch=true

If I had my Camaro today, I would be all over it. But, I don't have it yet, sitting at 1100 (just ordered last week) and I will probably never drive it in the snow anyway.

I understand those who have to use theirs as a DD. Growing up in the Chicago area, I've had my share of the snow and ice and that was plenty. I don't have to worry too much about it in East Texas since on the rare occasion it does snow, it pretty much shuts everything down.

To those who have\want to drive in this, just watch out for the salt! Stay safe!

Great idea! Except. . .I traded my soul for this car and definately can't afford a 2nd string vehicle Here in the great OK the weather is "usually" only bad for about a week, and when its bad it gets REAL bad and everything gets shut down, so my hopes are as soon as the first ice settles in, the state will close down and my baby and I can stay warm and dry at home!

Wishing everyone a safe and (crossing fingers) warm winter

Same here, It gets real cold here but it snows maybe 3 to 4 days total.... I live in an apartment too so while I do have a garage, obviously the Camaro goes there and I have no other parking, so having a second car is a pain in the butt involving moving it from street spots to parking lots, etc... all for 4 days a year... not worth it.

Generally, I don't worry about driving in the ice/snow(let alone in the 5th). It's those a-holes that don't know how to drive in it that scares the daylights...

It looks like TireRack.com has made some changes to their site and - if everything is correct - it now shows that Camaros will ship with one of two different PZero series. I've never seen a post where anyone mentioned different PZero styles so maybe this is the issue driving the two strong opinions.

18” & 19” wheels get PZero All Season
20” + wheels get PZero Summer Tires

The surest way to know is to compare your tread pattern:
All SS and RS packages have the 20"+ wheels, and they all come with the Summer Tires, it is the LS and LT, which come with 18" wheels that have the All Season. If you look for posts on here, there are many in which the SS and RS people were wondering what to do with the snow as they only have Summer tires, as it is hard to find winter tires to fit the 20"+ rims that have to fit over the brake pads.
