Ah Hah I may have found the answer to our discussion on Barrett Jackson's website in this article it explains that the auction was for the rights to the first production Camaro not the silver one pictured , I guess they wanted to show one for the show? I guess we were both right it did sell for 350,000 dollars but that was for the rights to it and the first one according to spastic was painted black. gotta love the internet!

Hendrick got the first two. He did pay 350k for the first one with proceeds going to the Heart Association charity. The silver was a pre-production car used for the show and Hendrick ordered the first two to his own tastes.
