Snow tires are definately the way to go. For years I drove my 1997 Z28 6-speed manual on a daily basis through many a horrible Chicago winter and was lucky not to have ever been in an accident. When I finally put snow tires on the car 3 years ago, driving it in snow was no problem. Tremendous grip. Snow tires combined with a couple of 70 pound sand bags in the back will definately help you to drive in the snow. I was thoroughly impressed and will never drive another rear wheel drive car in the winter without snow tires!!!

WOW, that video makes me feel really bad about my tires. I'm sure if I had a maro, I would definitely have a set of these!

I am not expecting too much trouble here in middle Tennessee on my summer tires. I can add weight in the trunk if needed.

I had no trouble with a 98 Corvette 6-speed manual and high performance summer tires, so I should be fine.

We don't get snow often, we get ice very often, though. I drive carefully when it is icy out. The biggest worry is other drivers.

Depending on how cold it gets in your area, putting weight in the back would be equal to pushing a rock harder on the ground. Still not going to get the best traction out of those tires.

It just snowed here in Utah. I took my SS out for a cruise and quickly drove it back into the garage. All that horsepower + slippery roads + low-pros = drive from hell. I was sliding around like crazy. I will save the camaro for the nice days and use the truck for the crappy days .

Installed my Yoko Parada Spec Xs today, and proceeded to drive in freezing rain and snow this evening. They performed admirably!

That happened to me last year in my new Malibu--still had paper temp tags--when I went to western PA for Thanksgiving. Fine the whole time up & around, then the day coming home one main road was just covered in salt, etc. I could hear nothing but "ping ping" for miles, my white car turned dark brown and after getting home to DE & washing...20+ chips. Front end, behind the wheels, mirrors, it was horrible. Perfect to chipped express--thankfully that I fixed 95% with a paint chip kit--thanks to one road. I hate winter & the crap they use to treat it!

And to think, this is what cars in these places are subjected to on a daily basis...:(

Snow? Are you crazy? So I can get salt all over my car. I won't even take my car out in the rain. Hey it might only be a 40,000 car but it is still my precious 40K car.

Camaro SS and Snow

Our area had 6 to 10 inches of snow yesterday to last night, we barely got out of our driveway in our HHR.. But some brave sole in a IOM Camaro SS was out this morning... Guess he had not heard they won't go in the snow...

Ours is still snug in the railcar, In Lima Ohio.. supposed to get to Nashville on the 22nd.. it's only a 7 hour trip by car.. geesh.. must be going to make a few stops along the way...

The snow is coming my way too, hasn't started yet. Just picked up my ABM 2SS/RS from Tom Henry Chevy last week. He's had it for a few weeks, but I needed a window to get it home from Pittsburgh with no threat of snow. It's safe now in my garage under a car cover. Found out a few things about the PZeros along the way. Cold (sub 20 degrees) and dry, OK..no issues. Cold and a little wet, also no issues if you pedal it slowly. Rear end stepped out a few times, but easily correctable. Cold and very wet...lots of understeer that transitions to instant oversteer as soon as you breathe on the gas pedal. Correctable if you are on your game and driving it VERY slowly and carefully. Cold and snow...imagine it's virtually undrivable. Hope you get your new baby home soon SAFELY and thanks for your business.

Just drove mine all over the place in the blizzard we have here. I replaced the PZeros with Yokohama Parada Spec X's, and its probably one of the easiest to drive rear wheel drive cars I've ever driven in the snow.
