It won't be hard to get 400 hp out of a 5.0 displacement, but it will be hard to reach 400 tq. I think it will come out to be less than 400 tq and that’s what gets the car moving. Although, I think it will perform well if they can keep the weight down to around 3600. It should be an easy 13 sec flat car with those numbers. The current mustang GT runs 13.5.

Ford is having a 6.2L SOHC V8 in there trucks in early 2010, its on option right now if you build your own SVT-Raptor truck.

I think its hilarious that all the Cobra owners have their panties in a bunch over this, its just as funny as those guys that dont want th eZ/28 to come out cause they dont want their SS pushed down a peg. Personally i would support my brand pushing the envelope like that, i wouldnt be so selfish as to say "nope you should stop here cause i want MY stuff to be the best" I mean all cars are going to become out-dated in performance some day so you cant say you didnt expect it, if you own a Cobra or an SS you should be happy that you have that badass muscle car thats a blast to drive and can own just about anything you run into on any normal road, if you're not happy with it then trade up, if youre not happy with it and not willing to trade then i guess there's no pleasing you

I dont see why Cobra owners are getting all bent up about this, at least they have a rare, high performance muscle car to hold onto, the people who should be getting bent outta shape are the 2010 GT owners...they get the same car for about the same price with the extremely out-dated 4.6 just to learn if they held out a few more months they could have had that same car with 400+ horsepower, which is why personally i would preffer if the 2011 GT kept the 4.6 and they just added a Mach1 or Boss to the line-up with the 5.0 (just a thought, any takers?)

That or move the 4.6L to a different badge as a more budget v8. I know nothing about mustangs other than the 1x in florida i rented a hertz shelby gt350. It was sounded good with loud exhaust but it was slow compared to my gto but it looked neat.

LOL, nice, the new GTOs looked retarted in my oppinion but they definatly pack the punch where it counts, if not for the G8 they probly would be the best performing Pontiac ever built (by the way im a huge Pontiac fan, very disappointed with GM's decision to get rid of the brand) The GT350 Mustangs were always pretty blah, not really a whole lot to get excited about other than the striking appearance, basically the exact opposite of the GTO, the GT350 talks the talk but doesnt walk the walk, the GTO runs the 5k but stutters, LOL!...and the budget V8 thing is kinda what im going for, they could make a new Mach 1 with the 5.0 and sell it for what Camaros are going for, then keep the base 4.6 GT but bring the price down $4k or so and start selling them at a base price of like $26k, id totally be up for that

I hope they do make a more powerful GT it will help the brand and have some healthy competition other cars. I have road in a current Mustang GT 315 HP and it felt really lame. I personally liked the V6 Camaro rental car I got from budget a few weeks ago a lot better.

lol, i type a lot...

I wouldnt really know, i havent driven either a new Camaro or Mustang, i would imagine though that with the numbers the Mustang has been pulling and how close it is to the Camaro that this new engine would put it a little over the Camaro, which is why i was maybe suggesting a higher teer, so then people who want more performance but arent rich for the GT500 can get twhat they want and people who just crave a V8 for cheap can get what they want, again just a thought...but i do have to admit that 4.6 is quite out-dated by now, idk how many people would actually opt for the lower-budget V8 in that case

05-09 mustangs are already in the 12's with three bolt on's not totalling over $800 (about 330hp), so 400hp in one of the newer stangs is going to be quite the sight to behold at the track

05-09 Mustang GT + CAI-Tune + O/R X-Pipe + gears = 12.7 to 12.9

CAI + Tune + UDP's = 12.8's
CAI + Tune + Drag Radials = 12.8's
CAI + Tune + Headers = 12.8's
CAI + Tune + Gears = 12.8's

You can mix it up any way you like
