Does anyone know when dealers are 'oficially' taking orders? Will we know after the next announcement later this month?

After seeing the reviews, I'm ready to order A V-6, putting money towards options like the RS Package. A V6 that goes nose to nose with a Challeneger R/T is more than enough car for me

That kind of performance, kiler looks for under 28k is fine by me.

December is when pricing will be coming out at the IDL's so that that's when dealerships will know what the prices will be.

My dealership said they will be GETTING Camaro's in Feb. so how does that work when the coupe production starts in Feb? Maybe my dealership is wrong maybe not...I will wait. What is an IDL btw?

Officially.....last we heard...they will start taking orders the first part of Dec. of this year. Production starts feb. 16th 2009 and I'm sure it will be a week after that before the first ones hit the dealerships. I guess it will depend on how far from the factory is from the dealership.

I say end of march early april. Takes 6-8 weeks from start of production to show up. 4-6 weeks for the vettes because they are in Kentucky. So I say 6-8 weeks since Camaros are being built in Canada, eh?

I COULD say we're getting them in JANUARY.....but then I'd be a liar.

Cars that are built on, lets say Monday, will ship on a Tuesday. Bowling Green does it like that. The Test cars and such are picked out at random.

By September the Camaro sales will fall off and they'll be offering deals on them to get them off the lots.

IMHO, I do not think GM's goal of 100,000 units in average is going to happen. The car is 5 years to late and going to be over priced for the majority of people.

Now car guys like us, will buy them. But there are not 600,000 car guys like us. So sales will suffer. Just look at the Challengers, they were pre-sold out, but they are still on dealer lots. The local dodge place here (Peabody Rt 114) still has 3, all marked-up and sitting. With winter coming and the 2009's coming, they will continue to sit there.

I am already planning on selling the G6 and getting a loaded Gray/Black SS L99.

Any car we order will be submitted as a customer order - I don't forsee a lot car for quite some time (not even a demo for CAMARO SCOTTY!!!) Orders will be place OFFICIALLY in January, unless Chevy changes the date they gave us.

Why would I order a LOT CAR when I can sell it the way someone wants it?

More than MSRP? That IS A CRIME! Not going to happen here.

I'd say the bolded words above are probably a big part of the reason they are sitting.

I do tend to believe that 100,000 Camaro's a year is a little high. At least if things remain the way they are currently. I see 65,000-75,000 as a more attainable number after the initial 'craze' has worn off.

Here in Redneckville the demand will be high, in the NE not so much. Most dealers in NC/SC already have 20 or more names on a list.
