for what it's worth, motortrend claims 155 LIMITED for the v6. you're officially in z4 range there I think a 180 isn't unreasonable @ all for the v8
180=airborne

My car calcs to 185...and I'm un-governed...but..I won't do it.

When I was in Germany I owned a 2005 BMW M3 w/ 330 hp and I reached 165mph. YES this was an American spec vehicle. But for the CamaroSS I would say 155limited. Simply because not many people in the states are accustomed to driving at over 100mph consistently from day to day. Second the roads over here are not in the greatest shape in some areas for driving at such high speeds, plus the turns on the autobahn in Germany are banked similar to those found on the Daytona race way, not so much in the states.

actually, it has about 100-125 less hp. havent tested my car in a while. dont know the current numbers.

Our beloved 5th gen has got to go faster than 165 mph, atleast.

I too have a 2nd gen,... modded of course, and I've seen at least 150. The speedo reads 130, but I had it almost back around to zero. Like many of you have said, at those speeds the speedo isn't all together accurate, so who really knows.

I could imagine a limiter being placed on botht he V6 and L99 V8 models, but for someone spending the dough to get the SS, I dont foresee it being a wise business move on GM's part.

the only limiter there will be the Redline, and in that case, some headwork and a nice tune with HPtuners should move that back nicely
I had an 06 Ion Red Line, of which the speedo topped out at 140. GM stage 2 tune and injectors with a 2.8" SC pulley. I buried the speedo but had a Garmin GPS running. Didnt go much over 140 and the gps read back 143mph. The Ion Red Line / Cobalt SS/SC do not have any electronic speed limiting.

I also believe the newer speedos to be much more accurate than people think. with todays technology the VSS has the ability to sample fast enough to send an accurate signal to the needle. I believe them to be accurate to the 1% range rather than the 10% range as in older generations of vehicles.

Shank, not trying to be smartass here but Wyoming does have law enforcement and a 75 MPH max speed. I wouldn't want to pay for 45 over. Hell, I'm actually from Oregon and they now have minimum $1000 fine for anything 100+.

BTW, The V6 model has 160mph speedo. The tires listed on the camaro spec sheet for the V6 has no rating on them. However, the SS model has ZR rated tires. ZR rating is required on tires capable of speeds above 186 mph. I am guessing the SS will have something better than a 160 mph speedo.

with a few mods like a SUPERCHARGER the Camaro could potentially reach the magic 200 + MPH club I think 600 +HP should do it , the only question then remains is were the HELL are you going to drive that fast ??? maybe BONNEVILLE

I doubt it. The drag increases exponentially at that kind of speed and the Camaro isn't exactly designed to slice through the air. You reach a point where it takes outrageous amounts of power to get any more speed and that point will definitely be below 200 mph for the Camaro.

The camaro will have a top speed of 280 mph
This thread is kind of pointless unless you live in Germany. Although I suppose you could go to Bonneville.

ps. I was joking about the top speed so no flaming. Maybe I shouldn't say anything and see how many people don't catch satire.

It's not the sixties or early seventies anymore were cars could go faster than there chassis could handle. I don't think any manufacturer is going to do that again.
