Anyone add AMP and upgrade speakers to non-BA system??

Looking at adding a AMP, SUB and upgrading the speakers.
Just looked in the trunk and I guess non-BA systems don't have a AMP in the back. So are the speakers powered directly from the head unit?
Is there a line out from the head unit I could plug into a AMP?
I'm thinking of installing a AMP and then running new speaker wire to the doors, back and subs? All the posts I see seem to be dealing with the Boston Acoustics system.

But for now step one is Dynomat trunk and doors.

If you want to keep the factory stereo unit, then you need the adapter harness or know how to wire a signal processor in. Makes things so much easier. Im about to do it myself. So far I have 1 MTX 50x4, 1 MTX 600x1@2Ohm, Alpine TypeX 10 inch sub (shipped)., hopefully installed in the ******** set-up (worried that 9 inch deep sub will fit). Only thing I need is 2-6x9's and 2 6 1/2's and all set.

Yep, speakers are powered directly from the head unit.

Nope, there is no line out, factory, in the car. You will need a Line Out Converter, LOC, to add an amp to this car. You'll need a LOC for each, front and rear, if you want to retain the ability to fade. Also, depending upon where you tap at, the factory wire running into the doors/rear deck, will handle 100wrms fairly easy. You'll have to daisy chain from one amp to the sub amp.

My recommendation, if you are wanting to upgrade all speakers and add a sub, find a good 5 channel, ala Memphis Audio Memphis Belle, now known as the Hybrid. It will simply installation.

If all you are wanting to add is a sub, it makes it even easier.
