Did they have an ETA on the PCM? Maybe this is the end of the ordeal and you'll have your car back soon. I'd be suprised if this doesn't fix it.

They are saying the PCM is coming on Wednesday at the latest.
If I get it back I am gonna drive the heck out of it to make sure the problem doesn't arise again.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully you'll have your car back tomorrow at the latest and can finally begin enjoying it rather than worrying about it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Yesterday evening, roughly 26 days later, I drove home my Camaro.
They installed the Powertrain Control Module on Saturday and the car has been running fine since. However, the tech is still nervous that there is another underlying problem with the car and that it may only be a matter of time before the dreaded "check engine" light returns.
For me, I'm gonna enjoy the car as much as I can while I have it - mayeb it will run fine from now on. If it doesn't, I am soooooooo covered under lemon law.

Thanks for all the support and ideas while I was waiting to get her back.

Watch this space.

Glad to hear you have it back. I can understand the tech's apprehension about the repair, but it is working correctly now and no other part they tried worked, so I'll assume is fixed and you'll be ok. Yes, the lemon law will be the next step I'd take, but I wouldn't even think about that now. Merry Christmas!

Just this Christmas eve my camaro had the Malfunction light come up, and a locked car icon. It wouldn't start. I called Onstar and they told me to wait 20 mins and restart the car.

The car started after 20 minutes but the Malfunction light is still on. Onstar is telling me it looks like a missfire in valve 6. No chevrolet dealers around here were open or able to service it.

Hopefully Monday i can get it checked and it wont be anything major.

Good luck, my situation started with the check engine light but eventually led to really rough idling and "limp mode" where the car wouldn't drive more thatn 50mph.

You may be in for a rough patch because it is possible that (a) you really had a misfire due to spark plug, moisture or a ton of other real issues or (b) there is a glitch in you powertrain computer or sensors which is causing it to mis-read the engine condition.

Its pretty much going to be trial & error for them to determine (a) or (b) but I hope you get good support from the service folks.

yes that is the way GM remote starts are designed...2 times and not again until you have used the Key to start it.
Also if the door, hood or trunk is ajar it won't start. I tested this on my HHR, I had someone sit in the car and after I started it I had them pop the hood, as soon as it opened the engine stopped. I could not restart it until I closed the hood... also if you use the key to unlock the door and open it the engine will quit (and the horn will start beeping)

Sorry to haer about your problems. I would give it a little more time, to let GM find and fix the problem. They will find a way to make it right.
