well.... If it's bone stock....
I am showing it as having a 230HP 3.0L. At best the curb weight is around 3400lbs. You won't blow his doors off or anything but it should be a sound beating. It shouldn't be completely down to just the drivers I think you should have the advantage. |

I don't know for a fact, but I would imagine the V6 auto Camaros are somewhat slower than the manuals. No limited slip diff, less agressive gearing, higher drive line loss ... I can't see how they would be the same. I think it would be a close race, but I'd expect you to win.
Anyway, if you race him don't bother with the paddles. Put it in sport mode (gear selector in M and don't change the gears yourself) should result in the best shifts.

328i road test info From Edmunds:
We recorded a brisk 0-60-mph sprint of 6.4 seconds en route to a quarter-mile time of 14.6 seconds at 94.7 mph. Motor Trend Camaro v6: 0-to-60-mph sprints of about 6.1 sec or so |

I think it would be a really close race. The BMW's are quick...and I believe the 0-60 on both are near the same. The Camaro is quite a bit heavier...so I would think the BMW would win. Now if you had a 335i, with the twin turbo, that would be a different situation! (The SS, would even lose...most likely!)

Negitive, The Power to Weight difference is not enough to even it out against the V6. Likely to be closer between the auto Camaro V6, but either way the Camaro Wins. (As said before, probably decidedly too, but not leaving for dead)
Also as they come from the factory (Aftermarket is a battle of cubic Dollars), the 335i isn't going to fair well against the SS... Not at all. A little math and the situation becomes clear. |
