Hmmm, Toyotas....
Engine oil sludge problems, frame rusting on Tundras, recent gas pedal revelations, rear tailgates that bend when you sit on them (Tundra again)....... Hardly what I would call a "problem free" record

I have had but one issue with my Car. It was taken care of by my dealer as promptly as possible. I do have to admit, I had to intervene on his behalf to get the requisite parts, but, I consider myself very fortunate to have a top notch dealer and service group with which to deal. As far as the issues you are having... Push the Warranty Button until they scream. Those could and should be fixed. The paint thing is something that has been discussed to death on here. A lot of it appears to be from the physical design of the various exterior panels. If viewd under subdued even lighting, from what I have seen, it evens out the overall colors. But that's just my perception, and everyone has a different way at looking at things. It's just my 2 cents. I wish you all the best on getting the issues you have cited fixed. It really is a good car. (At Least mine is.) This is the third GM vehicle in our family right now. (Grand Prix, Impala, Camaro).

However, GM will do nothing about those issues if it isn't allowed, at the dealership level, to be escalated, which I think is a crock of s***. The whole idea with GM reorganizing and having government backing was supposed to weed out crappy dealerships that shouldn't be allowed to sell GM vehicles and you'd THINK, that after all the dealerships that were closed down and/or converted to Used Car dealerships, that they would be more humble and change their attitude about customer service. Like I said before, the business success formula/model works like this in sales and service: Positive Model - 10 Satisfied Customers = +1 Positive Referral Negative Model - 1 Dissatisfied Customer = 10 Potential Customers Lost If these dealerships are not making concessions and not offering help in any way, that dealership needs to be closed. No more shady nonsense and back-room deals. No more pushing dealership responsibility onto customers, especially after the car is sold. I can tell you fron personal experience that Toyota customer service and support is not handled like this, but I just hate their cars. I had to prove to my wife that she was making a bad choice in getting a RAV4 and to wait and test drive an Equinox which she loves (gotta wait for the lease on her Camry to expire). Support what you sell and STFU with the excuses. I can still taste my Cobalt's Front 2 Pirelli tires that burned out after only 8K and D&C did nothing to help me. Glad that place was shut down for good. But I digress.... Last edited by DkknightX; 12-17-2009 at 02:51 PM. |

The paint? not an issue IMHO The camaro Has ALOT of angles its looks different at many. A great example of this is my BMW 135i the black looks really weird at certain angles...
2. Toyota makes good cars however they are all boring the haven't mad a fun car in over 15 years. And if you even think of using the mr2 i will slap you. 3. Nissan's are the ones to avoided they have shitty trans and lots of engine problems and on top of that EXTREMELY SHITTY customer service. 4. The foundation of the zeta platform is extremely solid the suspension and drive train will last for years, It's all the electronic BS you have to worry about IMHO at very least the camaro and any gm car WILL do it is Basic function which is get you to point and to point b. The issues you have had 1. Tail Lights (Replace) 2. Elembes falling off remove them all , or replace (area could have not have been clean...or to clean) 3.Speakers..... Turn your music down :p or go aftermarket other wise let gm fix it will still happen 4.HVAC. TSB This is one of the few REAL issues 5.Tires This is the dealerships fault they have water in there compressor the reason nitrogen worked was because it contain zero to minimal water in it and the moucles are bigger. I bet that if you had drove it for 30 minutes they would have been fine. 7. Sideskirts... What did you hit? or who's been messing with your ride? |

What issues are remaining on the list besides the paint mismatch? I can't see this heading for a lemon law based on what I've read in the posts and understand about the law.

I've had many new cars over the years, Toyota included. They suck as bad as any of them. I havn't heard of GM or Ford being accused of destroying test results like Toyota has nor have they had to recall 4,000,000 cars to replace gas pedals & floor mats! As far as the paint problem goes on myothercar..... RJT, the only thing that makes sense is a repaint due to damage of some sort. It didn't have to be crashed, it could have been stained, scratched or etched by something. The fact that her friends have a body shop and think the paint looks like hell is enough for me to rule out the angle theories. I would go to another dealer and demand to see a factory rep for starters. Contact GM by phone and explain the problem. If you can't get any satisfaction, then I would sell it and move on to something else. I suspect they will do what is right in the long run!

If QC is responsible for the other issues, why is paint such a damn problem with this car?! You'd think that if GM was going to charge paint premiums on some colors, they'd get it right. Victory Red has been out since the Korean War ended. Why is all this paint work shoddy?! Seriously, all this poor paint talk makes me think of the candy shell crap that Maaco sells for $400.00 (full body painting). What gives GM?!

Recall the mods they did to the 2011 V6 Mustang's Duratec 37? Guess which engine the Edge has.. Yeah. Autothrottle cutoff at decel sensors? Put them in in 2008. Why? It ate our entire transmission like a fat man owning a burger king. Not to mention the fiasco known in our family as "9000 miles and no brakes! O noes!". That being said, it happens. Sometimes a snafu hapens on the supplier side and it only shows up later on down the line. Heck look at the output shaft thing. Bad batch out of mexico. I wouldn't worry, and be extremely grateful that GM isn't shafting you like certain asian companies on warranty work. They're working on improving customer service.. and when it's all said and done.. take the guys out for a beer after going over the car. I did it when I had my rear end torn apart on the truck. Bought the boys a few cases.. which didn't go over well with the manager but hey. They saved my bum and got me back on the road. So even though Sh!t happens with these cars 1st year, it's not the end of the world man. Keep a chin up, and keep driving that car like theres no tomorrow. And once 5 years hits; drop a Maggie on the top end and a retune from SLP. Make a cheapo 575. BY then you'd probably have gone over the car so much that you'd be able to do it in a weekend.
