I mean they are no more wrong then any of you claiming what the weight is right now so my point is people should shut it until final specs come out. This discussion is really old. I can't believe the mods let these topics stay open as long as they do.

HOLY CRAP! That thing is a PIG.

If the V6 weighs 3750, just imagine what the V8 will weigh! Maybe 100 pounds more!

That means a 3850 pound mustang with 412HP will be up against a 3850 pound Camaro with 426 HP!

Oh, the humanity!

A couple of things here. A my car is a a6 ss and weighed right about 3800 bone stock. Keep that in mind as its heavier than the m6 cars.

First congrats to ford for stepping up. But I dont think its going to be the Camaro killer that everyone expects. Even maybe, killer no.

Heres why imo.

They dont have torque specs...usually a lack of engine specs hides details. Just saying.

They added a 6 speed finally...with that comes more weight.

They are adding brembos...with that comes more weight as well.

If Im correct the mustang still has less airbags and body stuctures required for 2012, if they add those there will be more weight.

Im calling it as official 1/4 gt time with track pack 13.2x.

Feel free to dig it up and throw it in my face down the road.

Oh and I still love the hood and side scoop options. LOL. Cheese.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I think the GT will win road courses against the SS now. With the track pack that is.

Still amazing to me that people are still saying these things run low 13's. Road and Track doesnt do there testing on a prepped track and they dont use good tires. Talking about bringing a knife to a gun fight. Why would you get into a street race with no tires. I have seen these things, stock good sticky with tires, in the low 12's. With mods they will run in the 11's easily. Ask any of these Mustang guys that have raced an LS based car, especially these, what happens if they dont get out in front and stay in front. LS based motors have BIG MPH and they will come rocketing by if they cant stay in front. I work on both platforms, have modded both, dynoed both and driven both. All I can say is that GM has it in the bag right now but maybe Ford has something for us. I want to see dyno numbers not factory "I want to sell a car" Flyweel numbers.

On this, noooooot really. I can tel your 100% that the major guys already have mods ready. The major mod company's have had test engines for a bit, and mods have been done. Everything from exhaust, to F/I. The aftermarket has always been a strong suite for the Mustang. That shiny new blower is looking pretty good...

Any way's the 2010+ interiors are even head and shoulders over my 08's. I wish I could have gotten some of the refinements in my car.

Not very convincing!
The proof is in the facts. When we had the camaro the very first week it went back for work, and It's been in and out for something the entire time we had it.
She drives the SHO to work every day because we also get rid of her SUV ,and She hasn't had one problem. All I hear everyday is how much she loves the car.
That's proof enough for me. I have a 2ss of my own so I not being a fanboy, I'm just stating what I know to be true.

I gotta hand it to Ford - they are bumping up their game in the stang factory! can't wait to see them. anyone know if they are the same body as 2010?
Same lines with a different front fascia and a slightly different rear diffuser.

I've had my 2SS for 3.5 months and never had a single problem with it. My coworker just got a new Taurus 2 weeks ago (granted, it's not a SHO) but he's had it back in the shop twice, and he's been asking me to figure out why his iPhone won't work with Sync. no matter what he does.

Thats what I want to know.
Exactly. I'm glad ford is upping the horsepower ante. Same thing about the V6.

But, we'll have to wait until final numbers are released to know the full story. Not saying it isn't possible that Ford made a faster car - but if they did, and what price it would be at, and all other specs have yet to be revealed. The sky is not falling until it falls, people.

If Ford does indeed put a 6-speed tranny in them, the MPG on the Mustangs should be up there with the Camaros.

RPM, so expect torque to suffer more. Considering the market they are selling to though,

that would be dumb.

My perspective on it is that if they do try to stuff enough tech into this engine to hit

high power numbers, it will probably drive cost up. Which in the real world is where

decisions are made anyhow. Since I was right on with my power predictions for the 2010

refresh, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Mustang will gain over 200lbs and not

top 385hp. I just don't see it going further than that. A 400hp Mustang would cost too

much more than a Camaro, and that just isn't Ford's M.O.
