That's what Kenji was saying. It may not be damaging anything, but it could be snagging the skip-shift solenoid if the solenoid is not retracting all the way back in. I HATE SKIP-SHIFT!!!

Ok this got me thinking back before I got the supercharger installed. Yes, now I remember 2nd gear was getting a little notchy. The skip shift got tuned out after the Maggie install and skip shift doesn't come on anymore and so far, 2nd goes in like buttah!

I was getting the same issue, sometimes it would grind trying to go to second under hard acceleration, 2-3 no problem and same for 3-4. I'm 99% sure it's not a left-foot timing issue, but who knows. I've got a skip-shift eliminator installed so it can't be that....unless tuning it out does something different. I did the install myself and everything was good, just seemed like the last few weeks before I parked it for the winter it started doing it. Driving "normally" I could rest my arm on the armrest and shift to 2nd by flicking my wrist basically......can't remember if it was notchy at the moment.
3300kms(1500 with shifter), HURST, a skip-shift eliminator and ARH exhaust is the only stuff I have so far.......but it's parked for the next 4-5 months so it won't see the dealer for a while.
I'll be interested to see what you find out rcracer.

we have had that problem a couple of times at the dealer with the second gear syncro going out. we have replaced a few so far, so hopefully they will find the problem. i dont believe the skip shift to have anything to do with it due to the fact skip shift only works at light throttle, and u said ur problem occurs at WOT.

I said there might be a problem with skip-shift not fully retracting. Therefore, snaging as you shift from 1st to 2nd. We'll see.

I am having the same problem. It started at about 2500 miles. Mine catches a little shifting into third too, so who knows... I am taking the car to the dealership today to see what's going on.

Mine is doing it in second and third second isnt as bad as third... When you shift in to third you can feel a slight grind and some days it wont go in at all.... One other thing i had a customer bring in his ss m6 and his clutch is firm and mine is like air??

He puts it up on the lift, takes the Hurst out and reinstalls the stock shifter. I take it for drive and it still feels notchy, but it was much easier to get into second now. (More leverage obviously) I'm gonna take it into the dealer now. They should fully investigate now that the stock shifter is reinstalled. Kenji had also mentioned it could possibly be something with the "skip-shift" solenoid not fully disengaging. Hopefully that's the problem, which should be an easy fix for the dealer. (I wish they would just take the thing out, personally) If it something inside, who knows how long I'll be without a car especially if I need a whole new Tremec.

By the way, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Hurst shifter. Awesome product and the best service ever. They didn't charge me anything to r&d the stock shifter. I think it's good research and development on their part to make sure thier product is not faulty. It's really personal preference with this shifter. It doesn't like to be finessed.
Get you a skip shift eliminator, even if that isn't your problem it gets rid of that anoying skip shift, simple install, I've had mine in from day one, I can go in any gear at any time.

IT IS NOT A SKIP SHIFT PROBLEM!!!

Go get a SSE and you will see that it still does it.

Someone, for pete's sake, pipe up who has a stock shifter... It happens with stock, happens with LS1 tranny's, etc, etc, etc.

I am 99.999999% positive it's the synchro. The Hurst isn't the problem at all. In fact, my very occassional "grind," if you will, has been minimized since putting in the Husrt. Remember, this usually happens at WOT. ...not driving around doing 20mph. If you are barely on the gas and you go to shift to 2nd with low rpms and you suddenly get grinding, you GOT ISSUES> It's called shifting WAY...TOO...FAST!

Even a tuner said that here a while back...can't remember who or where. But, he said to allow the shifter to go into gear...instead of forcing it into gear and we'd all be fine.

And just so you know i still have the stock shifter i think its a synchro problem im not seeing a shifter or skip shift make it grind.... Even when im normal driving and the skip shift light comes on im not slamin gears so it slides over in to fourth on its own.. I will have to find a way of transportation before i let my tech look at it because im sure it will be down 2weeks to a month

I too experience this phenomenon with my SS and I have a stock shifter. I have had Skip-shift tuned out and it still happens. Will keep an eye on this thread to see what happens. If it is a sync problem, what is the fix? I admit I don't know much about the inner workings of a manual transmission but I can drive the hell out of them. I recently sold my '91 5.0 Mustang with over 200,000 miles on the original clutch so I know my issue is not related to any lack of driving skills...
