"Ranger" sets new stock Z06 w/DR time 10.74@129

Great driver and conditions made this possible.

A ZR1 also set a new record totally stock on stock tires time of 10.74@133 that day.

Ranger still at it, huh...haven't heard much from him lately, but this is some impressive news. He gives great advice to alot of guys over on the Corvette forum. I would've figured some magazine would've hired him for articles by now...

So.. this basically throws the entire argument/civil war amongst vette owners over which is better. Same times (give or take a few microseconds) and 1mph faster.

Damn.. GM. Time for a new engine in the ZR1. Plunk the LS9 into the Z06 and go full bore on our supercar!

The difference is the drag radials though, Ranger did run totally stock that same day and was running 11.1@128

So ZR1 was 4 tenths and 5mph faster stock for stock down to the tires. It should be considering it has 133hp more then the Z06, Z06 makes up a little of the hp deficit due to being lighter and slightly better gearing for the 1/4 mile. From a roll the ZR1 has much better gearing for those 150+mph runs

Not to mention I think the ZR1 would outperform it on a road course, would it not?

Ranger is the man, has been for awhile. There is no angst between the Z06 and ZR1. They are two different vehicles with different purposes. Can you mod to level the playing field somewhat yes...but they are what they are and have two different purposes. Oh yeah check out the 9sec run that LPE just did with a ZR1 with bolt ons

And the ZR1 is only starting to stretch its legs in the 1/4 mile

Exactly, the ZR1 is the best valued supercar since the Z06 and has taken the Corvette even further, it's an amazing car. Should be even better things coming from the ZR1 as more people get their hands on the car.
