As someone who is NOT brand loyal, just a muscle car enthusiast, I think this is great news for all of us. I will be sure to test drive one in the spring, and if I like it then hell it will be parked next to my wife to be's 2010 SS. We love the Camaro, and have no regrets. It is gorgeous, fast and fun to drive.

Bring it on, Ford!

What about the 2011 Mustang's design? Is it gonna look like the 2010 Mustangs?

I wouldn't say that statement is entirely accurate. The Mustang has lost more sales to BMW's sports coupes than Camaro's. I've heard that Ford is poised to take on BMW sports coupes when the redesigned 2014 Mustangs are released as a slightly smaller more nimble coupe. (I know I'm hearing uncontrollable laughter...). Time will tell.
The Camaro and Mustang are both iconic cars. Each have there strengths and weaknesses and we're lucky to have a choice. Long live the new HP wars!!!

I like how some people have already decided this car will not weigh a pound more and will be far superior to an SS, LOL.

Its a hell of a lot easier to get an extra 10% more power when you start with ~69 hp/L (current 4.6L or LS3) than it is when you're at 82 hp/L (new 5.0L), so long as both are naturally aspirated. Thats just how it works. Are there gains to be made? Sure, just not as much. Modifications are not magic. Every engine obeys the same laws of physics and has certain limits. The closer you are to those limits when you start, the less bang for your buck you get when you try to improve it.

Should be solid. Im excited.

I would honestly be very tempted to buy one if it wasnt a mod motor. And also from reading about the motor not even needing headers and other details makes it sound rather maxed out from the factory. Now im sure it will still respond well to mods but not nearly like an ls3.

I cant wait for the first head to head test.

I wonder if the 2011 camaro will at least get some gears. It is going to need it.

SWAT...the main point of my last post was simply that a lot of you mustang guys dont think much of the half second and 6mph average trap speed advantage a stock camaro has over a stock mustang currently. So basically I am preparing myself for if and when the mustang edges out the camaro by a tenth or so in the quarter. I dont want to hear any bragging...lol.

Ne wayz...got to give credit where credit is due. looks impressive.

+1 on that!!
That's why a N/A LS3 will always make bigger #'s than a N/A 4.6 (or 5.0). There is no replacement for displacement!! That also why so many 4.6 owners went F/I, it's the only real way to get decent power out of a smaller engine and still have it driveable. The larger LS motors have had and will continue to have a HP/Torque advantage over the smaller Ford motors. The only way for Ford to close the gap is to put their motors into lighter cars.
