Man this guy must be the best driver on the planet. He should be racing in the NRA's, he would win every year.
Guess you need to come to the Fest and see some bonestock LS3's and L99's get in the mid to high 12's all day long..it's not that rare...and seeing is believing and the manufacturers do not have the best drivers...hate to say it but its true.

the new mustang will be quicker, thats a no brainer. They had the time to pefect the engine and go head to head with the camaro SS and SRT8 in pre production testing. I`m sure GM had an SRT8 and mustang to go against before the camaro went to production.

Anyways...regardless this is all good for everyone. I remember when the Z06 got 405hp and it was HUGE news. They even put it on emblems . You only heard of exotics and Europe cars with over 400 hp now its available at you local dealer.

All hail.... North american muscle cars back from the dead and better than ever.. no losers and we all win in the end. Nuff said..

People can say whatever on that. 12.6 is awesome if its true. But at the end of the day, I measure the car at what it averages. If a hand full of people run a car into 12.9-13.1, i consider the car to be a 13 flat car.

If one odd ball runs 12.6 bone stock and no one else repeats it, may the planets align, factory freak, or running off of the tears of baby jesus......its not what i consider an example of what a car will do on any given day. Congrats to that person, but i think it works both ways. If someone ran a 14 flat with good traction in the 60' and hit every shift on par i would call it a 14 flat car just because it happened that one time.

When asking yourself what is any particular model run on any given day I look at the averages.

If driver ability has lots of factors. I can tell you that a solid axle supercharged Mustang is a breeze to launch when compared to a IRS setup Mustang. Doesnt mean the 03 Cobras cant do the do, but for someone to just hop and attack the 1/4 its easier to do.

So guess the guy who drove that 12.6 Camaro bone stock should wait and try a 2011 Mustang GT unbiasly down the 1/4 with the same environemental conditions to please some people.

But If I see a 2011 Mustang GT, in bone stock form, run down a high 12 as many times Ive seen a 2010 Camaro run a low 13 (22 out of 27 that posted run times in bone stock form run low 13s, 5 out of 27 run high 12s); then im calling it a high 12 car. period.

To get the Mustang Guys to shutup, I recommend slips be collected at the Super Awesome Camaro-a-thon Fest and be posted in the timeslip second sticky. (btw, Im on the fence with Mustangs. I own one, but tired of Ford's put off on performance. I feel like they are redeeming themselves and I do have a sweet spot for a mustang; but i cannot deny the last year where the design and performance of the camaro attracts me.)

Question do you think that everyone who posts a good time runs back to the internet and posts about it? Heck I moderate the dragracing section but I dont post my times on there, thats just not my style...but the cat will be out of the bag come fest time...Like I said come to the fest and i will bet good money that you will see atleast 7 Bonestock camaro's turn sub 13sec runs in the 1/4...Not trying to get into a pissing match, but I know what I know and stand by it...if you want to see it show up..inspect the cars yourself...otherwise back to the internet banter

Hey Im just saying post it up. Its a forum event, so it would be supporting of the forum to post up INFO, not bragging rights. Pissing match isnt the point for me, its documented info. I never said everyone posts their times, Im saying if we to have an discussion I look for an general survey. The fest would be a good start for numbers. In survey, its not everyone, but a fair pool of people showing what the car can do. It sounds logical. Same if it was a Mustang Event. Which Im surprised no-one has tried. It has ample amount of witnesses that can post to confirm the run and the car's state. If that info averages out to make the Camaro to be a mid to high 12 second car, then I be more than glad to see it as such. Im a numbers person, not the macho type; so I believe what is documented, proven, proven again, and transparent. However it is fun to speculate on the peroformance of the 2011 Mustang as we did with the Camaro over a year ago; but I like to use unbiased numbers and comparisons.

Just because it shows that a car is far ahead of another, it isn't true. I don't believe the 13.2 record for the GT.

It's what the driver can do, not the car. The car is capable of the 12.6, just depends on who you have behind the wheel.

I need to see it more than once to believe it. And if it can Ill eat crow. I still measure a car by an average time.

Ergonomics, launch consistancy via consistant mechanicals, and normal conditions.

If that guy can do 12.6 ten times out of twenty, then I could see it. But I would consider it a mid to high 12 sec car if we had many people do the same thing. As much as I hate to say it, magazines usually have consistant times between one another and generally unbiased efforts and have been reflected by average joes on many forums it seems. Im dont look for the holy grail to hold up as a testiment to what my car can do. Try to think of a science project, the result is not acceptable or creditable unless its repeated with the same result time after time.

Since the new mustang will weigh just about as much as the camaro now with all the things their adding on. The 24 hp and 40 ft of torque loss will surely hurt the mustang. Can only wonder what the price of the new gt will be ....
