I dont care about sales. What can it do against the other. Its a Versus forum, not an annual sales forum. If it was the Honda Civic would be the most badass car in the U.S. for 2008. Which is not the case.

Back to the speculation and comparison to like models.

QFT, I witnessed a guy in a bone stock L99 run a 12.9 and the car wasn't even broken in yet. The Camaro is a 12.7-12.8 car, that's facts. Now we wait and see what the GT runs.

The SS has a ton of speed in it. You can take the same car and one driver can get a 13.7 and another can get a 12.7....same car different drivers..

I hope a Trans-Am Body Kit becomes avalable for the Camaro, I would do it.
Sorry. Its tough for me to say but Im happy I still drive a Firebird!

If that guy can do 12.6 ten times out of twenty, then I could see it. But I would consider it a mid to high 12 sec car if we had many people do the same thing. As much as I hate to say it, magazines usually have consistant times between one another and generally unbiased efforts and have been reflected by average joes on many forums it seems. Im dont look for the holy grail to hold up as a testiment to what my car can do. Try to think of a science project, the result is not acceptable or creditable unless its repeated with the same result time after time.
I know there is no way in hell that I could ever get a 12.6 out of it. However, that one guy did and that showed the Camaro's capabilities. Your whole post just described the driver's skill level again.

fdj...I have never bashed the solid rear axle....I dont mind it at all. I just wish you could have best of both worlds. But when it comes to which car I would prefer the rear axle isnt enough to sway me...I would actually probably prefer an SRA. But I have just never been impressed with the NA performance of the ohc ford motors. Not to mention the ease of a cam swap. THe simplicity of the motor, the smaller size of the motor....the list goes on and on.

And as far as the pushrod technology argument. Isnt the ohc design older than the pushrod design? either way I could care less.

What do the super fast cars on the strip use? pushrod? Now im not saying no fast cars are ohc so I dont need to see a bunch of links to fast ohc cars. But what do most cars in the 4-5-6 second range use? which is faster ultimately? I am not positive so dont quote me...I am asking a question...but i am thinking it is pushrod.

Man this guy must be the best driver on the planet. He should be racing in the NRA's, he would win every year.
Dude, give it up. LateModel Racecraft was working on that guy's car and can easily verify that he didn't have nitrous hooked up. Seems to be a pretty simple solution that you keep avoiding. Beyond that, go check the dragstrip section and see people with minimal mods getting into the mid-twelves (e.g. Pave1 got 12.6 with just a tune on a L99, a guy with a tune, headers and CAI hit 12.2 in his L99).

Also, they're talking about the 12.6 that was run by NHRAStocker with only an air and oil filter swap and an oil change (royal purple). He did it multiple times in fact, so it wasn't some fluke that can never be repeated.

EDIT: Also, the guy with the CAI and tune from LMR also ran 12.6 and 12.5, so he did replicate it.

Well thats just it, how could I expect a car to perform at a level if on average it doesnt? If a car has a huge "driver's hurtle", then I would rather have my money on the car that has similar "performance capabilities" but without that hurtle. Its looks right now that the 2011 Mustang GT with a solid rear axle is that car, in my eyes.

The P.Jones was quoted at 12.9 and so was the 2010 Camaro by GM. That 12.9-13.0 seems to be the realistic interpretation of real world events.

I want to know the potential of the car, not the monkey behind the wheel.

The car performs...its the driver that doesnt. Guess folks need to work on not being an average driver before they go trying to race someone on the track. If you see that a car can turn a great time stock that is way quicker than what you are capable of...that seems like enough motivation to learn how to drive it better....thats just my opinion. Thats like you turning a 14 sec 1/4 mile in your car then you let your buddy takes a pass in your car and he runs a 13sec 1/4...wouldnt you try and better yourself especially since its your car? I mean you know you car can do it..you just cant..but your buddy could? After that if someone asked you how fast your car was would you say its a 14sec car or a 13 sec car?
