Expect the Viper to win unless you do some additional work on your car.

I'd say the Viper had traction issues, evem from the roll. The Camaro is a sweet car, however, the SS isn't going to hang with a Viper. Z06, ZR1, absolutely, maybe even a base Corvette coupe, for a bit.

Chalk it up as a win though, lol!! Your SS got a Viper, too sweet!

I bet the Viper's top speed also destroys the SS.

Was the Viper ahead of its time? Or would a vette pull off similar results?

Apparently these vipers run mid 11s, while Z06 run low 11s, and some guy even ran his in the high 10s... So I think it'd be interesting. Still the ZR1 would be king...

You know the car that beat the bugatti in 0-220mph or whatever was a Hennessey Dodge Viper

The new Viper ACR is the fastest.... I think.

I could be wrong.

Kind of off topic, but I've been on the Viper/Vette forums a lot recently deciding between the Viper and ZR1.

Here's a couple of vids for you made by the same driver, Jamie Furman.

2009 ZR1 Bone Stock 10.85 @ 130.12

2008 Viper Bone Stock 10.92 @129 EDIT: ***Some offensive language in the video! Don't turn volume up at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*****

C6 Z06 10.98 at 129 on factory tires (no vid just a thread)
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...-1-4-mile.html

Granted the Viper is not an ACR, but the (Gen 4) ACR is 100% mechanically identical to a regular viper. The biggest difference is added drag on the ACR but Michelin Cup tires instead of the PS2's.

So, all 3 have run 10's on factory tires by the same driver. Just something to think about.

OMG, imagine getting to be that guy that day??

Don't forget, our Camaro's are governed to 155mph. I'd imagine an SS without the limiter would be closer to 175mph, although still slower then the Viper by quite a bit. Then let's not forget, ~$40k SS vs ~$80k Viper, lol.

The 2010 ACR vs. the 2010 ZR1 is very close. The Viper seems to be the better road course vehicle, but I can't answer the 1/4 mile question. I haven't seen any 1/4 mile times from a stock ACR. The current 2010 Z06 would beat this 2002 viper, even if it did have radials, assuming the Z06 driver is actually good enough to make it hook and the same goes for the Viper.

It doesn't take but a few minutes to tune out the 155, we had to raise my limiter just to be able to dyno it, I think we ran it up to 178 on the dyno to get it to the new redline due to the rear end ratio & 28" tall tires.

How do you figure? Power, weight, torque, gearing, and tire size are all very close between the ZR1 and Viper. So unless you consider winning by less than a car length "blowing them out of the water" I'd say you're wrong.

Curb weight is weight of a vehicle including fuel, lubricants, coolant, and on-vehicle materiel, excluding cargo and occupants.

GM states the curb weight of a 2010 Camaro SS 6M is 3860lbs.

Gasoline weighs about 6.25lb per gallon. So your half tank was actually 12.8 gallons shy of full.

A better weight for racing comparison is race weight. That's the total vehicle weight with driver as the car would sit at the starting line.

Im surprised you won but proud as well of the good showing. It came down to a drivers race.
Spec wise, the viper shouldve beat you but you never know whats going to happen at the time.

I'll post results after we get some posts rollin in.
As much as I love the Camaro (I'll be ordering mine soon) I'd put my money on the Viper. The whole HP to Weight Ratio is in the guy's favor. However, it sounds like he didn't know how to drive the Viper.

Isn't this kind of showing that they're all about equal (i.e.- no one is blowing anyone out of the water?)- at least in the 1/4? Within a mph of each other trap speed and barely a tenth separates them all with the same driver? The top speed of all of them is within a few mph too.

Doesn't matter to my poor ass I guess, I'd take any of them With this being the last year for the Viper, I think I'd give a slight desirability nod to one of those final 500 special editions.
