Mr Lutz is a smart man, I trust he won't let us down when it comes to the performance/economy compromise.

I take the comment about the CTS-V and ZR-1 that they will be short lived models....
Although that's a scary thought, seriously, we knew this day was going to come eventually. Yet another reason I panic about a top-dog Z28 or what have you.

+1, Mr. Lutz!!!
Umm... Yeah... I'll just park my SS and LT next to my F4 Phantom II, just like he does (okay, I don't recall what fighter he has but I think you get my point.)

Bob has Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet in German Luftwaffe colors, the F4 uses way too much gas

BTW-I also asked Bob several questions today on both the Camaro as well as the Volt. I took 3 of my volt questions (so I cant complain) but none on the Camaro.

Thanks Patrick'

I'm glad it sounded like it was a pretty open forum although you didn't get any Camaro answers.

GM is already working on efficient forced induction. Although it probably won't be for the Camaro, but more of an emphasis on smaller & more fuel efficient vehicles.

i.e... LSJ 2.0L intercooled & supercharged 4cyl, 205hp 200ft lbs of torque (replaced by LNF)
LNF 2.0L DI, VVT, intercooled turbocharged 4cyl 260hp, 260ft lbs of torque

And coming out in the 2010 Chevy Cruze, and other small models is the 1.4L turbo 4cly with 140hp... Not to mention word has it GM is bringing the 1.8L Turbo 4 from Opel.

I also don't see the LSA powerplant being around for too long, just because of it being made for the small niche vehicles they are currently in.

But hopefully GM comes up with something to battle Ford's ECO-boost...

BobLutz: CTS-V and ZR1 would be sound investments at this point.

Any plans for a supercharger or turbo to be available in the near future for the Camaro?
BobLutz: Nothing currently planned.

For people like me who will be purchasing a Camaro, would you recommend holding off a year if we want a Camaro with more performance?
BobLutz: I thought as you did until i drove the 300-hp V6. A wonderfully balanced car with great handling and a superb sound. Buy at least one of those.
Incredible how different people interpret the same statements to mean different things based solely on what they would like them to mean.
Maybe a rational person would come away with:
1) Better buy the CTS-V and ZR1 if you want one, because they won't be making them for too long and their successors will probably be less powerful.
2) GM is not currently planning on making a supercharged Camaro. (And if the future will not support the CTS-V and ZR1, why would it support a supercharged Camaro?)
3) No need to hold off and wait for a more powerful Camaro, because the 300hp V6 is more than enough according to Bob Lutz (and he didn't even mention the 422hp SS).
