My v6 does the same noise... like every second its a little tick sound.. I haven't noticed it if i rev my engine though.

my friend had a rental v6 camaro and his did the same ticking noise, i was worried until i heard his and figured most of them did it.

No ticking from my LLT. I have heard it on a CTS I rented once. I thought it was just beaten.

I don't know, maybe I got a really good one because my V6 is very quiet. One of the quietest engines I've ever had in a car to include my old Jag MkII.

Even with the hood open, it is quiet, almost too quiet

Theres a minor ticking noise which is standard but im not sure how noticeable your one is. The only way to distinguish the sound level is actually hearing it. Easiest way to compare another V6 engine with your one and see if its the same. If your one has a higher ticking noise, it may be the cause of:

- Pistons and Piston Ring clearance in the cylinders
- Injectors
- Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (needs bleeding, preferably bled with diesel fuel) or
- Valve Clearance adjustment

Have these areas thoroughly inspected by your service dealer. If all are serviced and the technical team tells you its normal and YOU know it ain't (compared with other LT V6 Engine) its most probably one of manufacturer defect engines.

Hope that helps.
