Road Trip down 101 from Seattle

I drove down to a friends in Redding, California to visit for Christmas, and took a few pictures along the way. Hopefully some of you might like them.

First, sort of related - my new PC. Please note the color (yes, it's IBM)

Another of the PC from the front

Now for the trip. First part of the trip was around the northern part of the Olympic Penninsula. It was cold (31-35) and foggy, but the roads were not icy at all. I stopped first at Crescent lake.

Continued driving west until I hit the coast, and stopped at Ruby Beach. First had to test out the telephoto lens.

Not far south, I had to stop at this pullout to take some shots. Some of these turned out REALLY nice.

Further down the coast in Washington...

I hit 2000 miles just north of Astoria

The car had definately accumulated some dirt by the time I got to Redding.

And, driving up I5 today...figured I'd show those that live out east what a real mountain looks like (Mount Shasta).

Awesome pics,

I made a trip to the Ferndale Washington area a number of years ago....Nooksak Falls, Deception Pass, Mt Baker,... prettiest area I've ever been to....

My wife and I are leaving day after tomorrow for the Texas Hill Country for a few days... I plan on photos along the way... Not really the right time of the year for this area, but we'll see...

Nikon D90 SLR with a Nikkon DX 18-105mm lens.

I'm also hoping to get some good HD video. I already took some, but I used bungee cords to attach the camera to the headrest. Worked great, but the camera was angled about 10 degrees. Was sort of a test run though and most of the footage is boring following cars stuff. Also, that's going directly to tape. I just bought unit that allows me to also tape it directly to Compact Flash memory.

Hey Steve, Notice the posts between us the other day about taking photos at the same pullout on 101 are gone. What happened?

I don't really know. I posted a link to this thread, but they must have considered pictures of a 2SS "off-topic" for the SS threads?

I don't know if you got my answer, but yeah...looks like the same spot we both took pictures in.

And, the ferry was no problem at all from Edmonds to Kingston. I parked so my door wouldn't hit the chocks on the drivers side, but it's such a short run that I really didn't even leave the car.

I am really looking forward to spring when Route 20 opens. Looks like a bunch of people are interested in doing the drive

Wierd, your reply is gone too. OH well. Yeah, Spring will be cool. Chuckanut Drive would be an intersting starting point for SR20.
