We all pay for what we want in the arena that we're playin' in. If ya don't like the arena, then change it. We have a head count thread in this section for BC Camaro Guys and Gals. Chime in there and I will add you to the list. I think were at 18 and counting.

I started this thread to understand why Camaro's cost more in Canada than the U.S. How that is perceived as "whining", maybe you can enlighten me.

Well the next time you cross the 49Th make sure you take out some travel insurance cause it you end up in the hospital in the USA you will have to sell your CAMARO to pay the emergency room bills for just a broken arm. Something more serious will cost you and your parents their home.

My wife's 20 minutes in a clinic for a yeast infection got us some invoices when we got back to Canada for 700 US dollars.

Whats the minimum wage these days in California? 5.00 bucks.? Last I heard it was 35 % higher in Canada.

Check out the UN living standards RANKINGS .... you find Canada at the top. Well ahead of the USA.

All whiners should get off the gravy train, get a green card and go pick weeds in Arizona.

No problem Gibby.
I wouldn't have it any other way, myself. I love Canada so much, I got the maple leaf tatooed on my arm!!
Just in the process of listing my '07 Civic Si, so I can have a decent downpayment on a SIM 1SS.
Cheers,
Kev
PS Still waiting for an "official" reply from GM Canada.

I didn't read the whole thread, but this isn't relative to just the Camaro, all vehicles cost considerably more in Canada. GM will give the standard canned response that there are more safety features that are standard in the Canadian version of the Camaro which pushed the cost up.

GM response as promised

As stated in an earlier response, I said I would contact GM Canada to find out why the Camaro is significantly more expensive in Canada than it is in the U.S.
Well here's the official reply as promised:

Thank you for your e-mail.

In response to your inquiry, we must clarify that, as well as the basic economic differences between Canada and the United States, General Motors of Canada Limited (GMCL) and General Motors Corporation in the United States are two separate divisions that operate independently of each other. As such, not all pricing or purchase incentives are concurrent between the two divisions.

Canadian pricing is determined in accordance with what the Canadian market dictates or demands.

As well, our dealership sales staff are familiar with the terms and guidelines of the various advertised promotions, incentives and financing options that are available to you, and they are in the best position to respond to your inquiries and provide you with more information.

Thank you for contacting General Motors of Canada. Please visit our website again!

Doesn't make me feel any better paying over 8 grand more for a 2SS....
