This part is insulting to those who really started with nothing and had to work for the things they have. I have no problem with kids getting new cars from their parents, it is a testament to the parents' hard work that they can buy nice things for their kids. And I, like many, strive to provide more for my kids, than I had growing up.

But a privileged kid who got a vintage camaro and a trans am and a motorcycle from his parents and has all his bills paid by his parents (except phone of course), then brags that he worked his ass off to pay for what he has....well, that's just ridiculous. Just making your own car payment does not make you a self-made man. There are a lot of kids out there who work very hard from the ages of 13-17 for minimum wage to afford stuff like school clothes and to save for their first CHEAP car.

So Hoffy, you're either a liar or a jerk who is trying to take credit for the labours of his parents. Which is it?

Sorry it just doesn't make sense and we need more info becuase more often than not the story is less than 1/4 of what was presented here.
You only pick out a small portion of what i said, i hate when people do that and try to make a valid argument at the same time.

That was my "allowance". I have TWO jobs. I TOOK OUT a LOAN with a CO-SIGNER. Yes, i THREW my teenage life OUT THE WINDOW on these cars. but hell, I'm having one hell of a fun life right now. I have the view that you live life once, yes i am working on my future, yes I'm worried about the payments, but id rather be a teenager rolling around in a 2010 Camaro then a grandpa.

Thats great I had 3 when I was 19.

And I think your SSI check was probably a lot mroe than the allowance most kids have. Before you go defending your purchase, just how much of that money did you use to put he down payment on those cars?

I agree with you, can't take it with you might as well have fun now. But don't lecture us on hard work when you probably already started with a good base...

I'm just saying, the cars you mentioned would retail at over 100k all together. Hell, I'd have bought me a house.

Don't take it personally.

Just saying that it's hard to believe an 18yo could save 100k, or so, in 8 years if they aren't getting some serious help.
The Cadillac and 300 were used and got them for a fairly good price. The caddy was a 03 and was mainly used as a rental. The 300 was a grandma's car, and for it being a 08 she sure put a lot of miles on it. If you guys don't believe me, i could quick walk out there with my camera and take a video of all 3. The Camaro is in the garage in storage because it's winter so i wouldn't be able to take a pic of all 3 together. Even if i do that though a lot of people probably still won't believe me. All i can say is, my mommy drives a charger, and dis likes the 300, and want's more power out of a car then a v6 caddy, and the Camaro she co-signed a loan for me. I don't know what else to say

Wait... you spent your dads SSI money on a car before anything else?

that just sounds disrespectful... that money is for IMPORTANT things no? not for luxuries...

am i the only one who found that ugly?

i damn sure would not want my son/daughter funding their "toys/cool stuff/omgnewxbox!" with their fathers money that was meant to keep them and their mom/siblings taken care off after i was gone.

I don't think anyone is hating on you about this. You managed to buy an awesome car. I think what people are getting on the OP about is how he presented the way he got all his toys. "I worked HARD to get this stuff".

Most of us live in the real world, and that kind of BS stands out as BS. Could he be one of the .05 percent of kids in this world who managed to make it huge at 18? Maybe.

I, however, believe in Occams Razor.

I don't think anyone would have had a problem if he did say his parents helped him, but bragging about your awesome job as a "tech" at 18 gets you a Camaro, etc...that's stretching our trust a little thin.

I used the money to buy the caddy and 300. Both were very used so i did not have to pay no high ass prices like a brand new one. But hey, this thread was not about me. I want to know why the OP is not talking I'm being ganged up on here dude! help me! lol...
