Hell no! lol. It's possible, ...but not without the introduction of mods. Stock, the GT should get 320 ish and more at the rearwheels, which is better than it's predecessors. If it reaches anywhere near 370(the highest number I've seen a stock Camaro dyno)......THEN and only then.....we may have to bring out the HPE550 FTW.

Finally the Mustang GT has some balls, Hopefully it will just continue the modern day muscle car war... This will help MOPAR, Chevy, and Ford....

Good on ya ...Ford...

If you figure 13% loss through the drivetrain, the 412hp Mustang should make around ~358rwhp in stock trim, but I would not be surprised to see some manual cars making ~360-365rwhp in stock form as they start hitting the streets/dynos.

My GT500, rated at 540hp, should have made ~470rwhp with 13% drivetrain loss, and it came in at 471rwhp bone stock. Using your example, 13% is a pretty good guess, as a 426hp Camaro would make ~371hp at the wheels.

Of course, torque is where it is at when drag racing, so the Camaro certainly gets the nod there with 420 versus 390, but if the Mustang does end up 150-200lbs lighter than the Camaro, then, stock for stock, you better hope you drive better than the guy in the other car.

Oh, and in case you were not aware, the HPE550 is not a factory offering.

It will clearly be a drivers race so people better start practicing their launches now.

Thank you for clarifying what I initially wanted to make many aware of. As far as stock for stock, if the Mustang gets lighter, I don't think it's very hard to drive an SS automatic in a straight line; just floor it and wait for a winner. It'll either catch me and walk away from me or the Camaro will slowly walk away from it.

On a side note, I really wouldn't hate the 2010/11 Mustangs so much if they would have just reverted back to the 2009 design. The 2009 body looks way more attractive than the 2010s. That thing is just ugly! Looks like somebody hit it in the rear with a ugly stick wrapped in barbwire.

These look so much better......come on. A less form of ugly.

Actually, I don't think the numbers say that at all. It will be interesting to see how this all fleshes out in the first comparisons and at the track.

I personally like the new rear ends. Fortunately you have no bearing on my decision to purchase one.
