I'm just thinking about all the poor bastards that bought a 2010 Mustang and now the 2011 is going to be MUCH better and probably not that much more money!

It would feel to me like Ford Screwed the 2010 buyers. What do you guys think?

Also I see a lot of people hoping Chevy ups the Camaro HP for 2011 for bragging rights but that would make the 2010 less valuable, I hope they keep it the same.

I think the people who really cared about the performance probably did not buy a 2010 because they knew what was on the horizon for the 2011.

I heard the same things from folks who wondered if the people who went out and bought a 2008/2009 540hp GT500KR felt screwed when the 2010 GT500 made the same power. No, they did not. Besides, if they did feel that way, what's keeping them from selling/trading their 2010 and getting a 2011?

Would you feel screwed if you bought a 426hp 2010 Camaro and then GM upped the power to 500hp for the 2011 model year?

The verbage from my speculation is saying that the 5.0 motor gained only 10 lbs not the entire car. And this is what I am finding the more research I do. From what I have gathered sadly the car will weigh over 3800.

Its a shame I was hoping for a battle we could all argue about....with a 1.2 liter, 15 horse and 35 torque disadvantage with no weight difference form the camaro (little more actually especially compared to a 1ss )this will be an obvious win for the camaro.

Going to have to wait for the official weigh in myself. I just do not see how it is possible for the Mustang to pick up 400+ odd pounds. The math does not add up. If someone has seen something saying otherwise, I would like to see it.

All the extra safety that has to be built into the car, change in suspension, ect. It just continues to add more weight. Not just motor and transmission.

Do people actually lay awake worrying about this stuff? "Oh no, what if the new Mustang is faster than my car!"..........who cares? Everyone realizes an SS Camaro isnt the fastest car on the planet, right? Because I dont think you do..

One thing I notice in the Mustang vs Camaro (aside from weight & horsepower) is the chasis's ability to get traction off the line. I don't think magazine tests are the bible, but one thing I notice is that for some reason the 540hp GT 500 is usually only about .1 quicker in the 1/4 mile than the SS Camaro. Usually these magazines say something like it's tricky to launch the Mustang, but IF you get it right you'll achieve a xxxx time in what ever acc test. So if 540 hp is just a tad quicker than the SS, the 415 hp Mustang shouldn't be as quick. Now of course once you get into spending money for tires...things will change. But Mustangs in mildly stock form don't seem to get traction unless it involves drag radials and smokey burnouts. I know a guy who has a 12.6 Mustang when on drag radials and a smokey burnout. On the street, on street tires, I beat him every time. One last ramble, I doubt the 2011 GT will be as quick as the GT500 (in stock forms) which is what it has to be to beat a Camaro SS.

So let me get this right. You believe the 2011 Mustang GT is going to gain 228lbs over a track-pac and Shaker 1000 optioned 2010 GT with the addition of the 5.0 engine and a Getrag 6-speed manual tranny?

I'm using the weight for the 2010 Mustang given here: http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/...ustang-gt.html

The Shaker 1000 stereo system alone accounts for about 48lbs of that cars 3572 weight.

The 2010 has a 5 star rating. The Suspension has Ford Racing LCA's and stiffer parts. The new tranny has been said to be lighter than the old. The engine weighs in 10lbs more than the 4.6. A fully trac pack mustang with 19's do not weigh 3800 lbs. So where is all this extra weight supposed to come from ? The Brembo's ?
