Time to vent... (parts for this car are hard to get)
As a little background to my story my camaro was broken into during the first week of December and a lot of the interior parts were damaged, including the IOM trim door panel. I brought it back to the dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle (Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson, TX) because it needed a bit of warranty work done anyway and they have a very reputable body shop.
Well, fast forward to today and they have all of the parts in except for the door panel. After speaking with GM on the availability of the door panel, they still have no ETA on when they'll get it in, let alone get my car fixed up and back to me. It is so frustrating as I have been without my car for close to a month now and it doesnt look like there is any end in sight. To make matters worse, the body shop doesnt want to fix the car up without all the parts in their possession (I could live with a scuffed up door panel for the time being). So, anyone got any good ideas on sourcing a passenger side IOM door panel? Maybe there is someone out there that can pull some strings and get one to Reliable a bit faster... |

Maybe you can get some of the cloth ones placed in there in the meantime so that you can have your car? Then whenever they get the IOM door panels just have them reinstall or do it yourself!

yeah, what he said... or just keep the screwed up one and swap it out at a later date. Thats dumb that they are making you wait for a small item like that.

thats what i'm thinking at this point. I may just have them do all of the other work and when the door panel comes in ill just bring it in and have them throw it on there.

I feel your pain!! I've been fighting to get a headlight for 3 weeks. Aparrently they just don't exist! I'm so sick of talking to GM reps who have no idea what they are talking about. I'm up to a district specialist and she just keeps telling me lies and going back and forth!! Doesn't anyone on this forum work on the inside? I'll drive to Canada tonight if you can pull the part for me!!!

This guy might have a door panel he can give you... I don't think he will be needing it, along with the rest of the car.

Check with Indpowr and see how much it would cost to get a full orange carbon fiber set instead...maybe you could offset the cost of the carbon fiber pieces with the insurance money and then resell the non-damaged stock IOM pieces on ebay.

I'm suprised the body shop even wants to keep your car. I'd tell them you want your it back after everything else has been repaired and will bring it in to swap the door panel after it comes in. It wouldn't take them more than 15 minutes to swap out the panels. There is no reason you shouldn't be enjoying your car until then. I'd be concerned that something else might happen to it while its in storage on their lot.

me: sorry about you wrecking your car but can I have your passenger side door panel? him: *short pause and then bursts into tears* (at least that would be me if I was in an accident like that, glad he is okay) Quote:

just emailed the guy taking care of this for me at the dealership (he is on vacation) and asked him to do all the work and just let me bring the car back once they get it in. hopefully he works with me on this since he has been very helpful thus far. |

Parts for these cars really do suck. 1 month to get a clutch and tranny to fix my 2LT/RS.
