I understand that you are desperate to get your headlight, but your choice of words could lead people to think your intentions are less than honorable. I don't think you'll be able to circumvent the system. You can't walk into an assembly plant with cash and expect people to pull parts off the line. Good luck with your hunt. Black_2SS, you'll have to wait till next year when all of GM is back up and running. By the way, I only mentioned that I could find out what company makes the head lamp. We do not house parts in engineering. No parts to pick up off anyones desk. No problem there...... the few parts that we have laying around are usually from future programs, about 3 years out. We do however have a few parts around from current production if there is any issue to take care of.
You've ordered your part, right? Were you planning on ordering another one direct from the supplier? |

I think the DSM should personally deliver it to you at the dealership. Don't know why they would feed you BS other than to get you to stop calling till the part gets there. I know for a fact they can Fed-ex it. But depends who they would be. If GM parts, truck delivery. If from supplier/vendor, FED-EX request would be a good option.

The story from my dealer always made sense (they originally said they would have one pulled from the line and over-nighted), it was when I tried to call customer service and got to a distric specialist that it got weird. I think she just didn't want to talk to me. She made up alot of stuff just to get me off the phone. It was rather weird, I've never had a support person be that rude. I was not being mean or rude, just looking for answers. I figured the factory was on shutdown after I didn't get it that first week, I was just hoping someone got it out before they all left. I've worked at an automotive supplier before, enough to have a basic idea how some of this works. It became very apparent that she was feeding me lines. Anyway, hopefully I will find something out on Monday when the real crew gets back to work. Hope all you guys working on the Camaro had a great New Year!! And thanks for a wonderful car, I just can't wait to get it back!!!

Wow, thats crazy!! I actually did ask for a manager like 5 times. They were either busy or not there. Finally she said she would put in a request for one to call me. But it would take 24 to 48 working hours!!! WOW!!

Because the people representing the first line of defense are rated by how effective they are at preventing you from speaking to their supervisor. I wish I was being sarcastic.

Have you tried to find one used? I would think the wrecked ones are getting parts salvaged from them by now.

Yeah, called around and couldn't find any, one salvage yard did a search in some database and said there were none. I did finally find someone w/ a used one(just barely) but because my insurance is paying and the shop has already taken the money he is insisting that we get a new GM part. |
