A K&N air filter makes a difference? A scheduled oil change, and he decided to switch to a different brand is no longer considered stock? No one here (that I'm aware of) mentioned anything about differences in boost being considered stock/modified.

Ok
Lets give the K&N air filter the credit it deserves. Instead of his run being
12.62 @ 110 mph, lets change it to 12.63 @ 110 mph.

The Camaro SS is NA. Its not Forced Induction. I've owned several turbo cars and I understand boost increase with modifications (without tuning). But the Camaro doesn't fall into the same category and will not make any significant HP (maybe 1-2 hp if that) from a K&N drop in filter using the stock intake box.

Just saying how they do make a differance. Boosted or na don't matter. Aftermarket equals modified.. End this stupid discusion.

Why is that? Just curious as I have several friends telling me to skip the NA part of my little project and go boost. I'm guessing something to do with a really big bump stick, which I won't have to worry about in my project.

At least I don't plan on it, lol

So changing from Goodyear to Bridgestone's or Firestone, or Kuhmo.. etc(all normal street radials) is technically "Aftermarket"-- thus making your car "modified".

Yall better have every single oz of weight in your car, with a full tank of gas, with proper/ recommended air pressure in your tires, before changing your oil, tires, air filters, transmission fluid, brake fluid, radiator coolant.

The argument is stupid......Your are right............ it is stupid to think that the Air Filter and Royal purple oil change gave him .2 in the quarter mile (next closest time)

10hp is about .1 in the quarter. Also you have to look at 60 foot times. Which I couldn't find but that is also .1 better 60 is about .2 up top.

K&N drop in's don't make anywhere close to 10hp on a 2010 Camaro. It's been proven by several members (dyno testing). Most have found no HP improvement with a K&N drop in over the stock airbox.

Quote:Ted (Jannetty Racing) did a run with a K&N filter along with all the other CAI he did the other day... the K&N didn't flow any more than the stock filter. . . didn't make any more HP either...

A modification is a modification, with the oil, it wasn't a matter of changing oil, but to a synthetic PROVEN to increase performance, not only with extra HP but putting the power down at a lower gear, sorry NHRA Stocker, but it was not a bone stock run........ When it comes down to it, there is no way to tell if and how much effect those things had and hence it cannot be called bone stock, modified is modified no matter that the extent.

And I'm guessing the GT that ran a 13.2 was completely bone stock? Or better yet that R/T that ran a low-mid 13's was stock? By your logic, lowering tire pressure would also have to be considered modification, just like the vehicle having to include a full tank of gas when running. Show me one vehicle that goes by this insane standard of being considered stock, and I'll show you a vehicle that has some amount of modification using your logic.

Are you implying that K&N make as much of a difference as increasing/decreasing boost? We are talking about a paper filter, not boosting.

.2 would be on the higher end, but i would say at the very least about .1

I never claimed to be (BONE STOCK)! You need to read a few more threads in the drag strip section on my passes. This is getting to far off the subject. Put any GTO in the country with the same (MODS) as me and it WONT run what i did 12.62 and altitude corrected to a 12.43!!!! Its not bragging when you can BACK IT UP!!!
