Spark Plugs
Has any one changed out thier stock plugs after doing any modifications such as intake, exhaust, tuning. I have been considering Diamond Fire with the install of intake and exhaust and was wondering if any body has tried these or another aftermarket plug with any results.

I installed diamond fire (E-3) sparkplugs. indexing is not necessary. I feel I got more HP due to feel and reduced gas consumption. I switched them to see if the Horsepower TV thing was on the up and up. I think it was and would suggest anyone switch. The swap was real easy, nothing in the way no special tools necessary.

Did you read the reports on them, from what I was just reading they don't do anything special for a car, actually most reports say you loss MPG upon installing them.

I watched that on Horsepower TV too. I spend 1/2 a day on the Internet doing research. In the end no one really got more power or better economy. I even read how some of the electrodes had broken off inside the combustion chamber, WTF? I was going to post here about it too, but just read too much negative stuff about it, or not enough positive. When they had one on their spark test machine you could clearly see the E3 made a stronger, more pronounced spark, I wonder if that was only TV magic?

Well, all I can tell you guys that I have seen increased horsepower and reduced fuel consumption. As for me I have all the info I need to know that they work. I can not believe that a reputable long running show would tarnish their reputation by falsely reporting on results.

First of all from your response it is obvious that you have never researched the E-3 claims. The reason I say this is that on the dyno the horsepower guys did two separate runs. First with stock spark plugs (NGK's I believe) did several runs then switched to E-3's, did a few runs and then showed a comparison. These are facts. Plus I have seen real world results from the Camaro. I definitely feel a greater amount of horsepower, not necessarily how much more, and reduced fuel consumption. Again this is a fact. I am not gullable. I do research, check out what other people say, then try for myself. I would say that you are either cynical or have an axe to grind or a dog in the fight. I try to approach decisions, like what plugs to use, with an open mind and no preconcieved ideas then go where the facts take me. My conclusion from the research I have done with spark plugs has led me to choose E-3's. Try doing a little research of your own instead of bolstering your position by slighting people you do not know.

Spark Plug Hype
I spend my life testing stuff, and searching for HP.
There are only 2 cases where we find power when switching spark plugs to different, brands, styles, types, heat ranges, etc. Case 1, Plug have deposits on them hindering spark energy. Case 2, wrong heat range or style for application. I trust GM Engineers have selected the right plugs for they're engine, and we would have to make major changes to the engine configuration to change the engines spark plug requirements. They spend Thousand of hours testing spark plugs that will give the most complete burn possible, They Have to to meet emission standards, clean emissions means complete burn. So I don't beleive or have ever seen any measurable power gains by switching spark plug brands, styles, types, heat ranges, etc. To Sum it up, in the case of current LS engines any time you install a fresh set of plugs you may feel a slight improvement but only until normal deposits acumilate on the plugs to even things out, but I really beleive it is in most peoples minds more than actual power. You see the advertisements, you want to believe them, you buy the product, you install the product, then out of guilt agree with the advertisements since you spent the time and money. There is NO power in spark plugs even on a fairly heavily modified LS engine or I would have spark plugs stacked to the ceiling, post the dyno sheets to prove it and would be selling them like ice water in heat wave. Ted.

I believe the stock plugs are AC Delco.

Disagree, no guilt, made many mistakes in the past. Have had them in for about two or three times as long as the stock plugs. Dyno them and show your results, or are you saying the guys on horsepower TV were intentionally misleading with their results on the dyno?

Like I said, after watching that episode of, Stacey David "Gears" I think, I spend all afternoon researching E3. I am anal like that. It didn't take long to find numerous complaints from several other forum sites that the plugs would start to miss after a few months, or the tips would come loose, or something. I think they are cheaply made. There were lots of stories of how, yes, they felt some power increase with slight MPG gains, but then the engine would develop a miss after 4-6 months and the E3 plug was to blame. Anyplug can screw up, but there just seemed to be a lot that with the E3's. Most of these posts were from 2008, 2007 so maybe E3 are built a little better now. Hey, if your car runs better with them, then go for it!
