I have no need for nav, I have a map and hopefully there is a built in compass and i'll be set. Who am I kidding, i'll probably buy a garmin in a year anyway and besides I'd prefer it without nav.

Not to sound like an a$$ Kelton00912 but your sig should be "...3 Pedals".

My garmin Nuvi is rechargeable and holds a pretty good (about 4 hour) charge, and it recharges extremely quickly when plugged into the car.

I second that. The garmin nuvi is an awesome unit. Very clear, easy to use, and automatically updates. It is also highly portable, so can be swapped between vehicles.

Plus, you can download extra voices for it, I have the glados voice from portal (Best robot voice next to KITT). The extra voices are not officially supported, but who cares.

I have to back everyone up about the Garmin Nuvi units. My Nuvi 350 (under $200 on WalMart.com) is great. It can be charged or plugged into the cars lighter.

My updates are free though, I'm not sure why greenrail has to pay for them.

I use my Sprint Instinct. It has turn by turn navigation and "live" search. Tell it what you are looking for and it finds it for you with address and phone number plus turn by turn directions. It also allows you to search for gas stations by price!!!

Good Idea, but here in CA using a phone gets you a ticket, not my idea of fun.

You can still dial, you just can't have the headset to your ear. So entering directions shouldn't be a problem. I believe Sprint also offers a service that allows you to call in your destination and have directions uplaoded directly to your phone so if you have a Bluetooth (like the Camaro will have) this really shouldn't be an issue if you keep that number on speed dial.

Yes it does have the call in feature. Havn't used it. You don't keep the phone to your ear. You basically push the button on the phone and tell it what you are looking for then it finds it and you push another button to get turn by turn directions. Then you put it down and it tells you when and where to turn over the speaker just like the Garmins

Yea, I'm famailiar with the phone. I had a it for a couple of weeks and decided to take it back and wait for a different phone to come out. What I would like to find is a nice mount for the phone like that of a standard portable GPS device to use in my car.

I've seen something before that was like a generic phone holder. It was a ratched clamp that you put your phone in and squeezed it closed and it help it in place.

I've never understood this. Its not holding the phone thats the problem with cell phones in cars, its talking to a person who can't see the road around you. I don't want to get this discussion sidetracked though. I just had to leave that little comment.

topic is:

GPS systems in the Camaro
