It's one of those offenses that isn't really enforced unless the cop is having a really bad day or you're being a dick to the cop.
There are other ways of getting nailed: I live in CA and was given a ticket for missing front plate by a meter maid when I was parked on the street for too long...

The one I have bolts right up to the 2 factory bolts underneath the front, it is perfect.

I’ve seen a few creative front plate license holders, but in reality the Camaro looks way better without it. Having to pay too much $$$ on no front plate tickets I decided to invest the extra expense on this Show N Go hideaway front plate that looks way cool.

I told the dealer no holes too. I bought a "no drill" plate holder from ebay. I may not use it, but I'll have it in the trunk and tell the officer that I just hadn't put it on yet.

I have the same one 2010 SSRS has.

This webpage will explain more about what you bought:

http://www.topflightrepro.com/bracketinstall-camaro.pdf

The owner posts on here often. It is a quality piece and it was my 2nd choice. It is expensive but I am a firm believer in getting what you paid for. I bought a McT customs design holder but decided to list it in the classifieds. I just like the look without a tag and will figure something else out. Hope it works out.

RPI has them - manual and automatic - http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/categ...40&sortby=name

Note they had a discount SS2007 for 10% - see them in the vendor section if you have questions

Simple solution: Don't put it on. Never put my front plate on, never had a problem (and yes, Iowa does require it).

For every person that says they haven't gotten a ticket without one, you can find someone that says they have gotten a ticket without a front plate. This isn't a solution.

Not a solution agreed but a personal preference. This is not the prime ticketing offence that the police are looking for in any jurisdiction. The decision whether or not to mount a front plate is personal and will vary based on each person's perspective. I personally hate to see it on the front of the car (required in Ontario). Even the zip-tie fix. Hate it. I haven't found a temporary hiding plate bracket that I like the look of either. Call me picky. In most areas the plate in the front window trick is just as illegal. In fact, put it up there and then stand back and look at your car. That big white rectangle in your windshield actually stands out MORE! It says "look at me! I'm in the wrong spot!"

In my jurisdiction the penalty is $110 fine but no points. So until I get a rash of 3-4 tickets in a season, I'll be leaving it off entirely. If I'm asked by an officer, I tell the truth. Anything else will just be a lie. In my case it's not my daily driver so this is a risk and a cost of "being beautiful". I should note that I'm a relatively conservative person and I have been pulled over for a ticket by an oncoming officer. No mention of the lack of front plate. As far as breaking the law, there is far worse things that you can be doing. 'nuff said.

My 2 cents. To the OP, weigh all your options, check out the law and the penalties and decide for yourself. Everyone here will give you lots of options to consider.

Unfortunately in Texas Dealers are now Required to put the plate on unless you order the car and sign a waiver allowing them to deliver the car to you without the plate. I was fortunate enough to find my SS on the lot but because I didn't order it the plate was on it. All the Z06's on the lot had them installed as well. The dealer and others told me they received a letter from TxDOT informing them that if a car was stopped without a front plate and the driver did not have a copy of the signed waiver the dealership would be fined 10k!! There have been numerous petitions to get the law off of the books but the DPS throws out bogus statistics about how many criminals they have caught by running a plate from a car coming at them ;-(
